CHAPTER 13

1084 Words
Luca’s Pov I stood by the window staring at the city lights while Clara’s notes rested in my hand. Tomorrow’s dinner with Victor made me anxious now. Every message and every rumour made things worse. Sienna walked over quietly and wrapped her arms around my waist from behind. “You’re thinking too much again,” she whispered. I turned and pulled her against my chest. “Victor is planning something,” I said. “I can feel it.” She looked up at me calmly. “Then we face it together.” I kissed her forehead softly. “I love you for staying strong through all this.” She smiled. “Because I love you, Luca.” Noah walked into the room carrying his phone. “Ethan texted again,” he said carefully. My mood darkened immediately. “What does he want now?” Noah handed the phone to Sienna. “He says Valerie was seen leaving Victor’s office tonight.” Sienna sighed and sat beside me. “This drama never ends.” I wrapped my arm around her shoulders. “Ethan keeps finding ways into our lives.” “He’s annoying,” she admitted. “But some of his information helps.” Before I could answer, her phone started ringing. Ethan. Sienna looked at me first before answering the speaker. “What is it, Ethan?” she asked. His voice sounded tense. “Sienna, Victor is digging into Luca’s past. I heard he hired people to investigate the crash again.” I felt my jaw tighten. Ethan continued. “If the real Damian shows up tomorrow, things could get dangerous fast. You don’t have to stay in this marriage.” Sienna answered calmly. “I am staying because I want to.” There was silence for a second before Ethan spoke again. “I still care about you.” Those words hit me harder than I expected. After the call ended, I walked toward the kitchen to clear my head. Sienna followed behind me. “You’re jealous again,” she said softly. I looked at her honestly. “Yes. I hate hearing him talk to you like that.” She stepped closer and touched my face gently. “Luca, I chose you. Ethan is part of my past.” I kissed her slowly before speaking again. “I know. But hearing him say those things still bothers me.” She smiled against my lips. “Good. That means you really love me.” I laughed quietly. “More than I planned to.” Noah walked in again, looking worried. “Clara called me too,” he said. “Victor invited extra people tomorrow night.” Sienna frowned. “Why?” Noah shrugged nervously. “Maybe he wants witnesses if something goes wrong.” The room suddenly felt colder. I grabbed Sienna’s hand tightly. “No matter what happens tomorrow, stay beside me.” “Always,” she answered immediately. We spent the next hour practising answers for Victor’s questions. Sienna sat across from me, pretending to be him. “Luca, where were you after the crash?” she asked seriously. I answered calmly. “The accident affected my memory. Sienna helped me recover.” She smiled proudly. “Good answer.” Before she could move away, I pulled her onto my lap. “You really did help me recover,” I whispered. Her arms wrapped around my neck. “And you gave me a family again.” We kissed softly until Noah cleared his throat loudly. “I’m still sitting here,” he complained. Sienna burst into laughter while hiding her face against my chest. For a moment, everything felt normal. Then another message ruined it. Unknown Number: Damian remembers everything. Tell your wife goodbye. I showed the text to Sienna and Noah. “Someone is trying very hard to scare us,” Sienna said quietly. Noah looked nervous again. “What if Damian really is alive?” I deleted the message immediately. “Then I deal with him myself.” Sienna grabbed my hand before I could walk away again. “No revenge talk tonight,” she said firmly. “Promise me.” I looked into her eyes and slowly nodded. “Fine. I promise.” Later that evening, we ordered simple food and stayed together in the living room. Nobody wanted to be alone. Noah started talking about Isabella and how excited she would be to meet Sienna one day. Sienna smiled warmly. “I already care about her because she matters to both of you.” Hearing those words softened something inside me. This fake marriage had somehow become the most real thing in my life. While Noah cleaned the table, Sienna rested her head on my shoulder. “What scares you most about tomorrow?” she asked softly. I answered honestly. “Losing you.” Her fingers tightened around mine. “You won’t.” I kissed the top of her head. “Victor, Ethan, Damian, Valerie. It feels like a storm around us.” She looked up at me steadily. “Then hold on to me during the storm.” I smiled for the first time all evening. “Deal.” A little later, Clara called again with another warning. “Victor keeps asking about Sienna’s investigation work,” she explained. “And he mentioned the crash twice during dinner planning.” I thanked her and ended the call. Sienna moved closer immediately. “Tomorrow will be hard,” she whispered. I wrapped my arms tightly around her. “Maybe. But after tomorrow I want something different.” She touched my cheek gently. “What kind of different?” I kissed her slowly before answering. “Real dates. Quiet mornings. A future without lies.” Her eyes softened instantly. “That sounds perfect to me.” We stayed close together for a long time after that. Both of us pretended that tomorrow was not waiting for us. Just before we went upstairs, Sienna stopped me near the hallway. “You still look nervous,” she teased softly. I pulled her closer. “Only because tomorrow matters too much.” She smiled and kissed me three quick times. “Then remember this whenever Victor starts his games.” Noah walked past us laughing. “You two are becoming painfully sweet.” Sienna laughed harder and held my hand tightly. “Maybe that is how we survive all this drama,” she said. Looking at her, I knew she was right.
