Darcy stepped out of Chief Grant's car as soon as it was safe to do so and said a swift good-bye before running into the hospital lobby. She stopped in her tracks when she spotted Leo across the room with his phone to his ear. That is when her phone's ringtone began to loudly play, catching the attention of the few people in the room. Leo turned to her and their eyes met.
For a moment, she could see the relief in his eyes and the smile that wanted to form on his lips. She almost wanted to smile back. Too much weighed on her mind.
She propelled herself forward into a run and she crossed the room in a hurry. She only made it half way because Leo met her half way and they reached for each other's hands.
“Don't run.”
Darcy shook her head as she didn't want to hear his demands.
