Chapter 14

"I think that car is following us" Daria pointed out when she noticed the same car has been following for a while now.

"I know, I'll lose them" Nicholas replied, speeding up, but the car continued to match up his pace.

Nicholas remained calm, but Daria had visible panic written all over her face.

"Why are they after us?" She asked fumbling with the hem of her dress.

"I don't know but, I'll get you to safety" Nicholas replied placing his hand over hers to assure her. "I promise you will be fine" he added.

"Take out my phone and call Ludwig immediately" he instructed her, cutting through to the freeway.

Daria obeyed immediately, but the Ludwig was out of reach for some reason. "I can't reach him" she said panicking.

"It's okay" he said. At this point the car chasing them multiplied and now four cars were after them.

Nicholas increased his speed trying to loose them in the crowd of vehicles but the cars kept matching his pace.

Nicholas had no option but to enter into a busy street, which he was unfortunately not familiar with.

"Open that compartment and bring out the guns in there" Nicholas said to Daria as his eyes moved from the his wind screen to his rear view mirror and back.

Daria was stunned by what she heard but did it any ways. "I..I don't know how to use this" she stuttered scared of the weapon in her hands.

"Hold the trigger and point towards the Tyre of the car behind us and fire" Nicholas instructed her.

"But I don't know how to" Daria repeated, shakingly.

"You have to try for me momma" Nicholas encouraged her, "on my word you pull it" Nicholas continued.

Daria summoned courage and held the gun out of the window, Nicholas took a sharp turn and commanded.

"Now!" He shouted, immediately Daria shot the gun and surprisingly she didn't miss. But she felt a flashback, 'a red haired girl standing in the a gun simulation room firing shots at a target'.

"You did great momma" Nicholas commended, still speeding away. Suddenly another car drove in front of them, forcing Nicholas to step on the brakes.

"What are we going to do?" Daria asked, as she grabbed a hold of Nicholas's arm.

"Stay calm, and remain inside no matter what" Nicholas instructed sternly, as he took the second gun in his hands.

The previous cars approached them blocking both escape routes, and then different men dressed in all blacks surrounded them.

A cold looking man with a black tattoo covering his left eye stepped out with a sinister smile he said "Raceanu, step out of the car and surrender".

Nicholas sat calmly in his seat holding Daria's hand. "I'll be right back" he said to Daria.

"No" Daria immediately pulled him back stopping him. "What if he does something to you?" She asked holding onto him even tighter.

"You don't have to worry" he replied placing a kiss on her forehead before stepping out of the car.

"There he is the Golden Lord" the tattooed man mocked as Nicholas stood, in front of his car.

"Let's not get into much yapping" Nicholas paused adjusting his suit. "You are making the worst mistake" he continued this time facing the man behind the tattooed man.

"Look at me, I am the one talking to you" the tattooed guy said irritated by Nicholas's lack of interest.

"What do you want Marius?" Nicholas asked slowly glancing at Daria who was still seated in the car.

Marius let out a small laugh, "it's simple Nicholas" he paused stretching his had to receive a gun.

"Revenge" he continued, as he face went blank and hardened. Daria gasped at the sight of the gun targeted at Nicholas.

"Well it's not that simple" Nicholas replied c*****g his own gun, pointing it straight at Marius. "There's a process for this" he added.

Immediately the members of Marius gang targeted their guns at Nicholas. Daria panicking attempted to come out but Nicholas had locked the car from the outside.

Daria couldn't help but so quietly as she struggled to get out of the car and standby him.

"Calm down and put your guns down or he is going to die" commanded them showing the red dot sitted on Marius's forehead.

Immediately a shot was fired at Nicholas but he quickly averted it and shot back at the man in the head.

Ludwig and the rest of Nicholas's men emerged from behind the circle of men.

And quickly gun shot began to fly, Nicholas ducked down crawling to the side of the car for shelter, while firing shots of his own.

Daria also crawled to the back of the car seats and crouched down covering her ears and eyes, after what felt like a minute in hell.

The door to the car opened, "are you okay my love" Nicholas asked, checking up on Daria who was completely shaken the events.

Finally in Nicholas's arms Daria grabbed until him "please don't leave me like that" she began to sob silently.

"It's okay momma" he consoled. "its over now, you are alright" he continued slowly rubbing her back to calm her.

"Why did you go out there alone, what if something had happened to you" she scolded him with tears in her eyes.

"Look I am okay,calm down" he said again trying to calm her. "Who were they?" She asked wiping her tears.

"It's nothing, come let's get you out of here" Nicholas replied, helping her out of the car. That was when she finally noticed the new set of men that had helped them.

Instinctively Daria hid behind Nicholas, "there are here to help us" Nicholas said.

Daria peeked out of his back and spotted Ludwig, finally she relaxed.

Nicholas led her to the second car that was brought for them. Closing the door to the passenger seat.

Nicholas called out to Ludwig "take care of them" he said nodding at Marius's second hand man crouched in pain.
