Darya was walking on a snowy path, in the hollow of a small valley surrounded by high mountains. Her shoes were sinking deep into the powder, and each time she lifted a foot, a strange suction sound accompanied her gesture. Still, the thick, pristine white carpet looked normal, except for the complete absence of marks, and she continued looking around for a familiar landmark. But she didn’t recognize this place and the mountain peaks, very sharp and devoid of vegetation, didn’t remind her of anything familiar in Siberia. She continued on her way, disturbed by this feeling of moving in unknown territory, with, to make matters worse, capricious weather.
