Chapter 1: A Drunken Mistake

256 Words
Emma had always believed that Mark was the love of her life. They had been together for five years, through the ups and downs of university, and she had imagined a future with him. But on a crisp autumn afternoon, her world came crashing down when she received a text from Mark: "It's over. I can't do this anymore." She stared at her phone, her heart pounding in her chest. She tried calling him, but he didn’t answer. Desperate for closure, she decided to go to his apartment. She needed to see him face-to-face, to understand why he had given up on them. But when she arrived, Mark wasn’t home. Instead, she was greeted by his stepfather, Daniel. Daniel was in his mid-thirties, a successful businessman with a commanding presence. He was tall, with sharp features and an air of confidence that made Emma feel both intimidated and intrigued. He invited her in, sensing her distress. Overwhelmed by emotions, Emma accepted a glass of wine—and then another, and another. The wine blurred her thoughts, and before she knew it, Emma found herself confiding in Daniel. He listened patiently, his calm demeanor a stark contrast to her emotional turmoil. Hours passed, and the alcohol took its toll. Emma woke up the next morning in Daniel’s bed, horrified by what had happened. Daniel, ever the gentleman, tried to reassure her. He offered her money, but Emma refused, feeling a mix of shame and confusion. She left his apartment quickly, determined to put the incident behind her.
