Chapter twelve - I'm not falling

2339 Words
Jordan's POV: Melanie has the same tattoo as me. This is unbelievable. I don't know how this is possible. They are identical. The weirdest thing is that we took them to the same place. Also, it was at the same age. I could've asked why she got hers, but I didn't. Usually, when you get such a tattoo, it means that something has happened. I can ask her, but it won't be soon. First, I need to process this. I still can't believe it. Everything came to my head except for that. When I saw it, I didn't know what to say or how to react. There is only one thing I don't understand. That is why she thought I might change how I look at her. It doesn't matter if she has a tattoo or not. I still like her the way she is. Well, as a friend. That's what I want to believe. I'm not sure if it's only that. Honestly, she looks beautiful with the angel wing. For some reason, this made me look at her from another angle. Maybe this was what I was talking about the whole time. I knew there was something different about her. I didn't expect it to be that. That's why one thing is sure. I won't talk about this with anyone. I promised her that I would keep my mouth shut. I will talk with Noah about this but without the details. I will tell him, but only if she lets me. For now, it's better if I don't say anything. Now, I need to know when I will see her again. I can make her come to the shop, but I won't. That should be her choice. I can always take her out. That should happen when her friends are not around. I hope that we can keep the good relations we have. Since she showed me her tattoo, I can't stop looking at mine. Is what Adriana said possible? I have heard the myth, but I never believed it. Maybe ours are matching, but it doesn't mean anything. I don't know what to think anymore. I got mine because of something I did in the past. Someone didn't want to let me go. I'm scared that she might have done something similar. Hopefully, I'm not right. She doesn't deserve it. All I can do is be next to her and keep her safe. I woke up with the thought of Melanie. This girl can't get out of my head. Except for the angel wing tattoo, she has two small ones. All of them look good on her. I showed her mine as well. She kept staring at the angel wing one. There is something weird about this. With the thought of that, I went to get ready for work. Later, I went to eat something. I made myself a quick sandwich and walked out. I should open the shop today. On the way, I saw Cassie. We walked in and started ordering. - How are you today? Hey. Are you listening to me? - What? I'm sorry. - Is there a problem? - No, I have many things in my head. - Many or only one. - Do you know the myth? - Which one? - When two people have similarities, they might be soulmates. - Of course, I know it. How do you think I have a boyfriend? - Good. - Hold on. Is something happening to you? - I don't know. - With who it is? Please tell me. - I promised not to say anything. - You don't need to tell me what it is about. I only want to know her. - I can't. - Wait a minute! Is it Melanie? - Maybe. - Yay! Hugs! - she said and hugged me - What is the joy about? - Mark asked, coming in - He has a soulmate. - No, I don't. - Yes, you do, and she is pretty. Younger, but pretty. - Great. - She pulled the myth on you, didn't she? - Yep. - I will be in the staff room if you need me. I walked in and started ordering. Then I remembered that night. I wish she had been here now. I can text her, but she is probably in class. It doesn't hurt to try. I pulled out my phone and texted her. Good morning. How are you? I'm fine, thanks. Can I text you later? I'm in class. Yes, sure. I'm sorry. It's ok. Until lunchtime, there weren't many customers. Most of the regular ones came in the morning. I went to get lunch from the nearest store. Today is colder. Then, I made myself a cup of coffee. I have nothing else to do. Cassie went to have lunch with Mark. I took care of all the customers until she came back. It's not like they were much. Then I went to clean the staff room. - Jordan, someone wants you to make their order. - Cassie said - Why can't you make it? - Because they asked for you. - After five minutes, I will come. I finished cleaning here and walked out. Now I know why they wanted me. Honestly, she made my wish come true. I wanted to see her today. Cassie walked away and left us alone. - Welcome to the coffee shop. What can I prepare for you? - I want two cups of hot chocolate. - Are you expecting a guest? - Maybe. - Cool. You owe me three dollars. - Here you go. Keep the change. - Thanks. - Hey, are you ok? Why are you looking at me like that? - Like what? This is how I look at everyone. - If you say so. She didn't say anything and sat down at the table. Why do I feel terrible? Melanie can be here with one of her friends. I won't lie. I wish it had been me. I didn't say anything and continued with my chores. - How long do I have to wait? - Melanie asked - Wait for what? - For you to sit down. - What do you mean? - You are the person I am waiting for. - Me? - I asked with a slight smile - Yes, you. - I won't wait for a second call. - This is for you. - Thanks. - How was your day so far? - Good. There weren't that many customers today. - It's cold. Not everyone will want to go out. - You did it. - Only because of you. - Really? - Since I told you everything, I feel better. It's like something heavy fell out of my chest. - Maybe because it's true. - I don't know. I'm glad that we kept the good relations. - Why not? Can I tell you something? - Sure. - I think you need more tattoos. - I said, chuckling - It's interesting that you say it. I was thinking about this. The thing is that I don't know what to get. - You can get something like this. - I said and showed her one of mine - But it doesn't mean anything to me. - Then I don't know. - Are you free tonight? - Kind of. I planned to go out with the boys. Well, I can cancel it. - No, don't do it. Forget that I said something. - What if I don't want to? - Why? - Because I want to know where you want us to go. - Nowhere. - Come on. You can tell me. I won't say anything. - I have nothing to say. - Please. - Fine. I wanted us to go for dinner. - Really? I would love that. - Are you sure? - Hundred percent. - You can choose the place. It better be somewhere warm. - I think I have an idea. - Great. Where is the place? - I will send you the address later. - I hope you know what you are doing. - I am. - Good. I better go now. No one can write my homework. - I can help you if you want. - Thanks, but I have to do it myself. - Maybe the next time. - I will think about this. - I hope so. - Look, I will go now. Thank you for the drink. I'll see you later. - I can't wait. - I said, and she walked out - Does someone have a date? - I need to go home one hour early. Can you cover me? Please. - No problem. Go and chase your soulmate. - Cassie, we talked about this. - Why don't you admit it? You are falling for her. - That is not true. I'm not falling. - Yes, and I'm a rabbit. - I'm serious. - Me too. The way you look at her says it all. - Fine. I won't argue with you. - Go to work now. If I cover you, I think you need to do some work. - Yes, boss. Cassie and I worked the whole afternoon. I'm glad she covered for me. When it was time, I walked out straight to the grocery store. I decided to make pasta. It's not the best meal, but I don't have that much time. Also, I want to make a small cake. Honestly, I don't know why I am putting so much effort. We are not dating. She is only a friend. That's what I hope. I never asked her. When I finished shopping, I went home. Now it's time to cook. I started with the cake. While it's baking, I can prepare the main meal. That took me about twenty-five minutes. Thank god that mixers exist. I can imagine how people were doing this around fifty years ago. I put it in the oven and started with the pasta. First, I need to boil some water. I pulled out the amount of spaghetti I would need. For two people, they won't be that much. In half an hour, I was done. That's when I heard the doorbell. - Hello. - Hey. Are you ready? - Yes, come in. - Why? I think you should come out. - We are having dinner. Right? - Yes. - This is the place. - Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't get that. - No problem. Come in. - Nice house. - Thanks. I decorated it myself. - Yes, I can see your personality here. - It's good to know. - I believe that dinner is ready. I can smell it from here. - Yes, everything is done. All you can do is sit and eat. - Great. - Here is the main meal. I hope you like it. - Hold on. Did you make this? - Yes, why? - I thought you bought food. - Well, I bought the ingredients. - I didn't know you could cook. - Now you know. - I'm impressed. You have many talents. I mean, except for making the perfect cup of coffee. - she said, and I laughed - There are many things you don't know about me. - True. If you let me, I can get to know you better. - Why not? - The food is delicious. I might need to come more often. - she said, chuckling - You are always welcome. - I will keep this in mind. - There is a dessert as well. - What? More food? - I won't leave you starving. - Have you seen how huge this plate was? - It wasn't that big. - Yes, it was. - You can't say no to me. Please, at least try it. - Fine. I wonder what you have cooked. - Something simple. I'm not that good. - No, you aren't. You are perfect. - Thanks for the compliment. I served the cake, and she looked at me. Maybe she expected something else. This didn't stop her from eating three pieces. Later, I washed the dishes and invited her for a late-night walk. Luckily, she accepted. Of course, I will take her home. I have seen girls being outside until late, but it's better if I don't risk it. After all, I want to see her again. - I hope you liked my dinner. - It was perfect. When will we have another one? - What? - I'm kidding. - I'm free tomorrow night. - Yes, but I have plans as well. After all, I have friends. - It's not like I don't. - Maybe the next time. - Hopefully, it will be soon. - This depends on you. - Why? - Because you are the chef. - I get it. I will try my best to impress you. - There is no need for that. You already did it. - Really? - Yes. I don't need anything else from you. Maybe, except to see you again. - It's like you read my mind. - Then it's decided. I will tell you when I am free. - It works fine for me. Let's take you home now. - I can go alone. - I know, but I won't let you. - Great. I have a bodyguard now. - You do. We kept talking until we reached her house. I feel like this night ended too quickly. It's not like we can't have another one like this. I would love it. That is only if she agrees. Well, she already said yes. I can't believe that Melanie wants to see me again. Why am I excited for this? I'm not falling. Right? No, I'm not. She is only my friend. I need to keep this in mind. We are friends. That's it. I want to believe it. The thing is that I can. Since she told me her secret, I have started looking at her differently. Now, she looks more like me. I hope that this won't change anything.
