Chapter twenty - Truth and confession

2331 Words
Jordan's POV: I think it's time to tell Melanie the truth. The more I think about it, the worse it will get. I will never be able to find the right words for her. The only thing that has left me is to be honest. I can't go straight away, but I can try my best. I'm sure she will understand why it took me so much time. I have never done this before. Let's say no other girl has gotten my attention the way she did. It can be a coincidence, but I don't think so. There is something more to this. Whatever it is, that thing helped me. Now, I know what I want. The other day, she asked me about my job. I started thinking what I wanted to do with it. I won't change it, but I can expand it. I have gained some experience here. Maybe I can have my coffee shop. It will be bigger and will have more coffee tables. I will need a lot of money for this. Something that I don't have now. No one said that this would happen tomorrow. I have enough time to plan it. That's why the urgent thing is Melanie. I have talked with Noah about this. Finally, I told him everything that was going on. I will tell Jason and Dylan when it's done. Otherwise, they will give me their advice. Dylan is the last person who I will listen to. After all, his luck with girls is not that good. The other thing I can do is do everything how I want. The success is not guaranteed. I had some ideas in my head. Sadly, none of them will work. I don't know why I think about this so much. It's not something complicated. Well, it is for me. I hope that everything will go the way I want. Today is the day. I had different scenarios in my head. For the past week, I have been thinking about this. We went out every day, but I couldn't tell her anything. I asked Cassie for advice. She told me to be calm. Also, to be myself. According to her, girls love honesty. It's not like I didn't know that. Well, it's good to know what a girl thinks. I thought of buying things, but she stopped me. Cassie thinks it's unnecessary. Maybe she is right. I don't know. Currently, I am in the shop. We had a few customers. I took care of all of them. This will keep my mind busy with something. Otherwise, I will think about Melanie. She doesn't know anything. I only told her to go out with me tonight. It will be a regular night walk. Nothing else will happen. There is a high chance that I won't tell her anything. I'm still doubting if she is the one. We only have matching tattoos. Nothing else. Soon, Mark came in. I haven't seen him for some time. Well, he is not here for me. - Hello. How can I help you? - I wish you could. Is your assistant here? - I'm not his assistant. - Cassie said, coming from the staff room - Someone woke up in a bad mood. - I said - Don't tell. - Why are you mad at me? Since you came here, you barely said a word to me. - I'm not mad at you. I had a terrible night. - I told you to be careful. You didn't want to listen to me. - Mark said - What happened? - We walked out with some friends. She drank a bit more. - I understand. It has happened to me before. - Why are you here? I didn't invite you. - Cassie said - Can't your boyfriend come to see you? - I didn't say that. I want to go home. - If you want, you can do it. - I said - What? Really? What will happen here? - I will take care of everything. - No, I can't leave you alone. I'll be fine. - Don't worry. I don't think many customers will come here. - I'm not going home. - Let's make a deal. You will stay here until the lunch break. Then you will go home. If the boss decides to come, I will tell him you didn't feel well and went home. - You can't lie because of me. - It's not a lie. I can see that you don't feel well. - Thanks, but no. I can't accept it. - Let's not argue. There is enough work here. - Fine. Thanks. - One day, I might need a favor from you. - Fair enough. I let Cassie help me with the simple things. Mark stayed for some time with us, but then he went to work. On the lunch break, I left her to stay at home. There is not much work here. I will be fine. I closed the shop for half an hour until I went to buy food. When I came back, I opened it again. Only two women came. It's not like I expected something more. I went to bring some products from the staff room. When I came back, I saw Melanie. What is she doing here so early? - Hey. - Hey, how are you? - I'm fine. - Aren't you supposed to be at school? - They let us a bit early. The teachers will go to one convention. I don't know what this is about. - Do you want a drink? - Yes, you can make me a latte. - Anything else? - No, thanks. - How was your day? - Good. Look, I can't come tonight. I'm so sorry. - Oh, no problem. - The girls wanted me to go out with them. I tried to decline it, but they didn't leave me in peace. - It doesn't matter. We can go out tomorrow. - I can stay here if you don't mind. Cassie is probably for lunch. - No, I sent her home. She didn't feel well. - So you are alone here. - Yes, why? - No reason. I'm only saying it. If you need help, I'm here. - Thanks, but I can deal with it myself. - If you say so. - Since there is no one here, you can do your homework. I might be able to help. - It's a good idea, but I should do it alone. - I'm only saying it. - I appreciate the help, sir. - For you always. After all, Melanie decided to stay here. I can tell her everything now, but I won't do it. I'll leave it for another day. I mean, any minute, a customer can come here. Also, this is not the place for that. She stayed here for about two hours. Then, she left. One woman came after her. She wanted only a coffee. I was about to pull out my phone when I saw Noah. At least I can talk with someone. I'm sure he will ask me about tonight. Sadly, I have to disappoint him. - Hey, hey, hey. Are you ready for tonight? - No. - What? Why? - She won't come. - What do you mean? - Melanie will go out with her friends tonight. She came here to tell me this. - Then why didn't you tell her here? - Because this is not the place for that. - Man, you missed your chance. - No, I didn't. - How many excuses will you use? You are not helping yourself. - I know. - Then do something. - Like what? - Do you know where she lives? - Yes, I have left her at home a few times. - Perfect. Go there and tell her everything before she goes out. - What? Are you crazy? I won't do that. Tomorrow is a day as well. - If you keep delaying it, you will never do it. - This is my business. - I'm only trying to help. - I appreciate it, but I can do this alone. - Are you sure? - Yes, I am. - Be honest. You will never tell her. - I will. - No, you won't. How many more signs do you need so you know that she is the one? Tell me. - I don't need anything. - Let's make it like that. If you don't tell her by the end of the day, I will do it tomorrow. - Don't you dare! - She likes you. - Why are you so sure? - Because I see it in her eyes. You two need to get together. - You know what? Do whatever you want. I will deny everything. - What do you mean? - That I give up. Everybody keeps pressuring me to do the same thing. Finally, I decided not to do it. - Why? - Because I said so. Final decision. - You will regret it. - It doesn't matter. I don't care about this anymore. - Please, think about this. - No, I won't. My best friend left. I stayed in the shop until it was time to close it. When I finished for the day, I went home for a shower. I don't want to do anything. I want to be happy that Melanie has plans, but I'm not. Noah is right about one thing. If I keep delaying it, I will never tell her. I wonder if it's worth it. There is a chance that she doesn't feel the same. I can't make her go out with me by force. I stayed at home for a while and later went for dinner. I walked in and saw the girls. I will ignore them. - Hey, come here. You can sit with us. - Katy said - Hello, girls. - What are you doing here? I thought you would be with your friends. - Melanie said - I wanted to be alone for some time. I will leave you. - No, no. You can eat with us if you want. - Thanks, but I'm not in the mood. - Is it because of me? - No, don't worry. You have nothing to do with that. - I hope so. - Relax. - We would like to get to know you. Don't worry. We don't bite. I only do it with the cute guys. No offense. - Chelsea said, chuckling - I'm not offended. - Please, stay. - Melanie said - Fine. - So if we say it, you won't do it. - Natalie said - Very funny. - Are you ok? You didn't look like that when I came. - Melanie said - I'm fine. Don't worry about me. - What if I want to do it? - Don't steal my words. - I only want to help. - I know, and I appreciate it. - Spill it out. - Katy said - To spill what? - It's visible that you want to tell her something. We'll pretend that we didn't hear it. - Chelsea said - Girls, please stop. I'm sorry. - I have nothing to say. Forget that I told you something. - If you want, we can go out later. - No, thanks. It's not worth it. - Why? Don't you want to go out with me? - I do, but not today. I'm a bit tired. Maybe another day. - If that is what you want. - You are mad, aren't you? - No, I'm not. I don't like upset people. - You should get used to this. I won't be the first one you will see. - I know. - At least all of you are good. I mean, no more fights. - For now, yes. - Natalie said - Why for now? - You never know what will happen in the future. - True. I stayed with the girls for some time. Later, I walked away. The only reason I was there was because of Melanie. I walked until I reached the park. We were supposed to meet here. Now, it doesn't matter. I don't want to tell her anything. I sat down and looked up. There were so many starts tonight. The winter might go away soon. - Can I sit here? - Weren't you with the girls? - I was, but a promise is a promise. - You ditched them because of me? - I won't say ditched. Also, we see each other every day at school. - If you say so. - What do you want to tell me? - Nothing. - Come on. - No. I have nothing to say. - But it's bothering you. - What do you want? To tell you that since I met you, in my head, only you exist. I used the reason you ran away as an excuse to see you. Since I found out that we have the same tattoo, I feel weird. I like you with it. Is this what you want to know? I don't know what is happening in my head except that I want to keep seeing you. - Well, I have some things to tell you, too. - Things like what? She didn't say anything and kissed me. That was the last thing I expected from her. I won't lie. It felt good. Maybe this is what I needed to be sure about my feelings. Now I know it. Melanie made everything easier for me. We stayed in the park for some time. For now, this will be a secret. I told her to stop hiding, but she didn't say anything. I won't be the one to force her for anything. Every decision is hers. I'm glad that I finally told her everything. It wasn't the way I planned it. Let's say that I got annoyed for some reason. I hope that we'll have a perfect relationship.
