Chapter 16
•••••••••••••••
It was already a new day, but the news didn't die down yet.
As the cab drove Frederick in, his eyes scanned the area as he saw reporters gathered around.
“What on earth is this?” Frederick's jaw tightened.
“Sir, I need to make a call… give me a few minutes,” he said to the driver as he brought out his phone to call the manager.
“Hurry,” he said finally as he ended the call.
“Thank you very much, Sir,” he appreciated as he handed him a hundred-dollar bill.
Many bodyguards rushed out and surrounded the car. Frederick glanced at them briefly and stepped out.
The driver rolled down the window and stretched out a fifty-dollar bill.
“Your change.”
“Keep the change, Sir.”
“Thank you, Sir… thank you.”
The guards immediately arranged themselves in two lines, blocking the paparazzi from getting to him.
🎤 Mr Wilson, Mr Wilson, a minute please.
🎤 Mr Wilson, how did you become this rich at a young age?
🎤 Mr Wilson, there's no news about your family… can you tell us who they are?
🎤 Did you go to the auction because you wanted that necklace or because you wanted to announce your wealth?
🎤 Mr Wilson, what do you have to say about The Grand Hilton?
🎤 Mr Wilson…
Frederick walked in, ignoring the voices that flooded behind him.
“Good morning, Sir,” a lady greeted immediately he entered.
He raised his brows. “You are?”
“I'm your secretary, Sir,” the lady replied professionally.
“When did your interview take place?”
“I was appointed.”
“By?”
She blinked. “Mr. Anderson.”
“Tell him to meet me in my office immediately.” He walked away.
“Yes, Sir.” She pressed her lips together.
CEO’S OFFICE
Frederick twirled the pen in his hand as he looked at the city from the glass walls. A knock sounded on the door, breaking his trail of thoughts.
He glanced at the door. “Come in.”
The door opened and Blake walked in. “Good morning, Sir.” He bowed.
“Lillian said you wanted to see me.”
He got up from the chair as he rested slightly on the table, his eyes piercing into him.
Blake cleared his throat.
“Sir, have I done something wrong?” He asked, unable to bear the silence any longer.
“I wanted a secretary, right?”
“Hah… Yes, Sir… Lillian is your new secretary.”
“I ask again…”
“I wanted a secretary, right?”
“Y… yes, Sir.”
“Then why did I get one without an interview and without getting informed?”
“Hah… she… she graduated with a really good business degree.”
“I know a few people that graduated with amazing results. Should I give them jobs too?”
“I'm not using my power for my personal gain… and you are using yours?” Frederick's gaze hardened.
Blake hurriedly knelt down. “I'm very sorry, Sir.”
“The moment that girl makes a mistake… you are leaving with her.”
“Yes, Sir.”
“Leave.” He stated firmly.
He hurried out, meeting Richard at the door.
Richard glanced at him briefly before walking in. “Hey, Fred, what happened to your manager?”
“He misused his power.” He sat on his chair.
“So, why are you here?”
“I want to have a discussion with you.”
Frederick's fingers paused slightly on the document he was holding. “What is it?”
“You have a degree in medicine, so why business?”
“There’s no reason.”
“Seriously, Fred.”
“Why are you and Ethan doing this?”
“Is medicine that bad?”
“How could you study medicine and opeya company, why will you—”
“That's enough, Richard… There's nothing.”
“But—”
“Let's not talk about it, please.”
ROYAL’S COLLEGE 👑
Camilla sat in the garden as she scrolled through the School’s Forum on the news about Frederick.
🗣️Wow,I can't believe Frederick is so rich
🗣️ I've always sensed it though
🗣️No wonder he always gives off this calm and charming feeling
🗣️Come to think of it, he's the richest in this college
🗣️ I've always known he had it in him
“So all of a sudden, everyone likes him.”
“Hi.”
Camilla looked up to see Clarissa staring at her with a smile.
“Hey, Rissa.”
Clarissa sat down close to her. “Everyone seems pretty invested in your boyfriend,” she said with a smile.
“Yeah…”
“I'm curious, though, how did he get so rich?” she asked, leaning closer as if trying to pry into her soul.
“I don't know much.”
“You sure you have no idea?”
“Even if it's a little?”
“No, I don't.”
“But… I will be back!” She rushed off.
“Huh… why did she run like that?”
“Who ran?” Ethan's voice sounded from behind.
“Oh, Ethan… what do you want?”
GRAND HILTON 🏨
Frederick barely looked up from his work, moving from one document to another without taking a break, while Richard sat across from him, his eyes following every movement of his.
Lillian knocked on the door and entered. “Sir, there's someone outside to see you.”
“I'm too busy… I don't want to see anyone.”
“Sir, this is… the president of The Banks.”
“The Banks?” Frederick turned to Richard.
“The father to the young man whom you won at yesterday's auction.”
“Is he here for a fight?” Frederick scoffed.
“Let him in.”
“Okay, Sir.” She walked out.
Seconds later, a man walked in as he scrutinized the office. He glanced at Frederick for a while.
“Interesting… You are the one who made my son lose face?”
“I'm not sure your son had any face to begin with.”
He laughed humorlessly. “You have a lot of guts to speak with me in that manner.”
“Get straight to the point of your coming here,” Frederick said dismissively.
“You dare to speak to me in that manner?!” He growled.
“Do you believe I can make this place unbearable for you to live in?”
“Looking forward to it.” Frederick replied calmly as he picked up a document.
“You think tomorrow's headline can't be ‘Young CEO met with a ghastly motor accident’?”
Frederick paused, his fingers momentarily stopping their movement on the document. “What?”
