19 Alec Outside of Jacoby, I haven’t met any elf royalty before. Nal’Adel wears an elaborate red gown with an armored breastplate. Her skin is almost pure white, as are the loops of hair atop her head. Both her ears and eyebrows are so pointed and long, they remind me of antennae. Yet that’s not the most elf-life thing about her. Nal’Adel stares at me in a way that suggests I’m prey. Typical. Nal’Adel inhales deeply. “Elle’s stench is on you. It’s so faint, yet I still scent the power of moonbeams.” I tilt my head, confused. I spent hours with Elle last night. Why would the scent of her power be faint? Well, whatever the reason, it doesn’t change the big danger here. Nal’Adel is targeting Elle. That needs to end, now. “Leave Elle alone,” I declare. “Why should I?” asks Nal’Adel. “C
