Chapter 14: Crushing Force

1036 Words
The disciples' cheers only fueled their Master's arrogance and satisfaction! Indeed, he had every right to look down on Alexander Reed! Years ago, when he was Alexander's age, the Venerable Master was already a renowned poison arts prodigy throughout North River City. After his fame spread, he had secluded himself in these deep mountains, dedicating himself to perfecting his craft. Time passed, and challengers had come! But what became of them? Every single one lived to deeply regret their foolishness. Some had their limbs broken and were used to nurture poison worms, others had their organs harvested for brewing potions! In his entire life, he'd never met a true equal! So Alexander Reed wasn't even worth his consideration! Nearby, Alexander watched the old master's posturing with his hands clasped behind his back, chin raised arrogantly, his gaze as calm and cold as ice. "Take him down, but leave him breathing." "Yes, Master." Victor Knight stepped forward, walking directly toward the Venerable Master! The old master shook his head with a cold laugh. "What amusing foolishness. It seems in my years of seclusion, North River City has forgotten my reputation!" He paused, sighing toward the heavens. "Very well! It seems I must remind these arrogant juniors why I am not to be trifled with!" But! Before he could finish speaking, Victor Knight was upon him, delivering a casual slap. The strike appeared unremarkable, no different from an ordinary person's slap, but the Venerable Master felt himself enveloped by an overwhelming force that seemed to fill heaven and earth! Before he could react, Victor's slap sent him flying! THUD! With a heavy impact, the Venerable Master crashed hard before his disciples! In that moment, complete silence fell over the compound! Only the wind and the sound of racing hearts could be heard! Good heavens, this was the Venerable Master! North River City's greatest poison master! A legend for decades, someone none in North River City dared provoke! Now sent flying by some nobody's slap? Dear god, was this man even human? The Venerable Master staggered to his feet, his head ringing. Victor's slap had nearly knocked his soul from his body! "Damn you! Alexander Reed, you dare strike me! I'll—!" Before he could finish, Victor delivered a kick to his leg, once again sending him flying! "Fire Centipede!" Mid-flight, the old master shouted, and from his sleeve emerged a bright red centipede, thicker than a child's arm and over six feet long. The creature moved like lightning, instantly coiling around Victor. The Thousand Poisons disciples immediately erupted in excitement. "It's the Fire Centipede! Master's most powerful poison creature!" "They say it's over a hundred years old, fed daily on the rarest venomous creatures, making it impossibly toxic. Plus, its body has been tempered to near indestructibility - weapons can't pierce it, water and fire can't harm it! Once it coils around someone, within ten seconds their brain and marrow are drained, their blood completely dried up!" "This guy is definitely dead!" The Venerable Master stumbled as he landed, wiping blood from his mouth corner, his eyes fierce with triumph: "Boy, once my Fire Centipede has you, even divine intervention couldn't save you! This is what happens to those who disrespect me! Ha ha ha! And Alexander Reed, after I kill him, you're next! Not just you, but your daughter too - I'll bring her to the Thousand Poisons Sect for daily entertainment! I'll make her watch as poison worms devour her father until he begs for death! Ha ha ha..." But his laughter barely lasted seconds before Victor let out a cold chuckle. "Just an ant, yet you dare plot harm against my Master. How amusing." The old master sneered. "Big words from a dying man. Fire Centipede, bite him to death!" "Fool." Victor shook his head and barked a command. The supposedly invincible Fire Centipede was instantly thrown off! "What?" Before the Venerable Master could process his shock, Victor had already grabbed the centipede's head. Ignoring its desperate writhing, he squeezed slightly, crushing its skull like a piece of foam! Once again, silence fell over the compound. The Venerable Master's eyes bulged as cold sweat broke out on his forehead! The Fire Centipede had been his greatest asset, the very foundation of his fearsome reputation in North River City! It was what had allowed him to establish the Thousand Poisons Sect! Yet his undefeated creature couldn't even last one move against Victor Knight? Heavens, just how powerful was this man? A cold wind blew, and the Venerable Master snapped out of his daze, turning to flee. "Run!" Victor's eyes flickered with mockery! "Run? You think you can escape?" His large hand made a grabbing motion in the air, and the old master, who had already transformed into a streak of light in his escape attempt, suddenly flew backward! It was as if space itself had contracted! This ability completely exceeded everyone's understanding, leaving them all petrified in shock! Just what kind of beings had they provoked? The Venerable Master had wet himself in terror. Before Victor, all fight had left him as he frantically kowtowed. "Master, spare me! Please spare me! I deserve death! I deserve death! I beg you, spare my life!" Without mercy, Victor stepped on one of his hands, crushing it. Everyone could hear the clear c***k of breaking bones! "AAAH...!" The old master was only human after all - such pain in his fingers was unbearable. "You made my Master's daughter suffer. Now taste that pain yourself." Victor's foot pressed down harder, turning the old master's hand to pulp. Then Victor grabbed his head, sending power surging through his body in reverse flow. The old master screamed in soul-shattering agony! "Spare me, please! I'll never dare again, never! Uuugh..." The Venerable Master's screams grew hoarse. Alexander slowly walked to his side, his eyes cold and still as a frozen pond! "You didn't just randomly find my daughter. Who's the mastermind behind this?" "Sophie Hale's father! It was all his doing! He paid me a hundred million! Mr. Reed, Young Master Reed, Lord Reed, please! I don't ask for mercy, just give me a quick death!! I can't take this anymore! AAAH..."
