•ESTELLE• “Remember not to say anything to your father, Estelle,” Dan warned me on our way to the dining room. “Or else, you will sleep without food for days, and I’ll make your life a living hell.” I wondered what could be worse than what he had done to me. Losing my child was the worst thing I ever imagined could happen to me. I lost a part of me, and nothing would ever fill up the void that it left in my heart. I was angry and wanted revenge. Dan had to pay for my child’s blood that he shed because he wanted me in his bed. “Yes, sir.” I nodded as he gripped my arm and squeezed enough to leave a mark where his claws penetrated. He made me change my clothes and hair, put perfume on me, and told me to smile. He wanted my father to think I was the happiest bride he had ever seen. When we walked inside the dining room, we found my father and Nolan seated and having wine. They got up from their chairs when we walked in. “My daughter,” my father smiled. “You look lovely. How are you in your new home? I hope Beta Dan Blackwood has been taking good care of you.” Dan pinched me a little as he helped me sit and sat beside me. Nolan and my father were smiling as they sat down, and though I hoped they would notice I wasn’t feeling okay, I knew there was nothing they could do. “Yes, I’m fine. Dan has been taking good care of me. He’s a wonderful husband.” I forced a smile on my face as I picked up the glass of wine and sipped. “That’s wonderful, daughter. Nolan and I wanted to check on you and ensure you were settling well in your new home. You know you’re welcome to visit us whenever you miss us.” I looked at Dan and felt my heart racing. His venom left me weak and breathless, and the idea of confessing everything to my father caused my heart to hammer in my chest. “Thank you, Father. It means a lot that you came to see me with Nolan. I thought you had all forgotten about me since you brought me here at night, and didn’t give me a chance to celebrate my wedding with our pack.” “Seraphina hoped you would come to her wedding tomorrow,” Nolan answered, though I hoped my father would answer since he’s the one who had ruined my life. “Tell her I won’t make it,” I scoffed. “Dan and I are still celebrating our honeymoon, and I wouldn’t want to ruin it by being away from him for a few hours. Right, Danny?” I looked at him, and he chuckled nervously. “Come on, honey. Of course, you can attend your cousin’s wedding. Since she wants you there, there’s no reason not to go to her wedding. You and I have forever to enjoy our marriage.” “Dad, I don’t see why I should—” I breathed, fighting the hold on me to say nothing to my father. “I don’t know why I should be there when Dan has made me lose my child!” I finally blurted it out and felt immense relief washing over me. “He beat me up and tortured me until I lost the life that was growing inside. So, how would I attend my cousin’s marriage when I feel trapped in mine?” “What?” My father furrowed his brow as he looked between me and Dan. “What are you talking about, Estelle?” “That’s not true, Leonard,” Dan scoffed. “Estelle is mad because I won’t let her return to New York. You know I have never laid my hand on a woman before. Even my late wife would testify to that.” “He’s beating me up, father!” I snapped, standing up from the chair. “This marriage has cost me my child, and I want him punished! He should pay for the blood of my child that he shed last night. He should be stripped of all his titles.” The room was quiet for a minute before my father groaned and stood up from his chair. I thought he would be angry and instantly order Dan’s head to be cut, but he fixed his shirt and walked over to me. “If your mother were alive, she wouldn’t have allowed you to grow up spoiled. She would’ve trained you to be a good wife to your husband. Dan is my Beta, and you should be grateful that I arranged your marriage to him. How do you think people would’ve perceived him for raising another man’s child?” I gasped and couldn’t believe my father could ask me that question. It seemed as if losing my child was nothing to him. My heart broke as tears rolled down my face, wondering if the man standing before me was the same man who had raised me. “Doesn’t the death of your first grandchild mean something to you, Father?” “An illegitimate child would’ve never been my grandchild,” he seethed as his words pierced my heart. “Nolan, let’s go. We have a wedding to prepare for.” Nolan nodded as he walked over to him, and when he passed next to me, he stopped and whispered in my ear. “Don’t worry, sister. You will have many children with Dan, and it will be as if you’ve never lost a child before. So tonight, f**k Dan out of his brain and make him nut inside you,” he chuckled as he walked away. As soon as they left, I closed my eyes and breathed, awaiting Dan’s wrath. Before I could catch another breath, he choked and pinned me against the wall. “I told you what would happen if you disobeyed me, Estelle. Has it occurred to you now that you’re nothing to your father? If you had listened to me, you and I would’ve had a lovely night, but I must teach you a lesson,” he sneered as he grabbed my hair and dragged me outside the house. I cried, begging him to forgive me and let me go. When we arrived in the backyard of a pigsty, he opened the gate and pushed me into the pigs. “You’ll sleep here from now on until you learn to be a respectful wife.”
