"Knox doesn't love me, Father. He won't even touch me!" I scoffed. "I've tried everything to lure him into bed since our wedding, but he has declined to consummate our marriage bed. Do you think he's looking for her?"
"He won't find her. He won't sense her as long as they are no longer mated together. Estelle won't come back here and cause trouble for us. If you claim Blood Moon and succeed in making Knox fall in love with you, the two packs will be yours once I'm gone. I worked hard for you and your brother to have everything in this world."
I got up from the couch and sipped the wine on the counter. Finally, everything that my father had worked hard for was becoming ours.
The only thing left was for Knox to consummate our marriage bed and declare me as his Luna to his pack.
"Have you ensured she could never turn? If she returns to the pack, she will know the truth, and all our efforts will be in vain."
"I banished her and ensured she could never return, Seraphina. Even if the turns, she won't know the truth. She has nothing to come back to here, not after her child's death."
"That's good," I chuckled as I sat on the bed in my lingerie. "I'll do everything we have planned, Daddy, and Knox and his father won't see what's coming for them."
"That's my daughter. They will pay for voting for my late brother as Alpha back then, which caused my wife's death. They killed Isobel, and now they will pay with their lives."
I was five when the Silverpaw pack attacked our pack because they were fighting for a land with Estelle's father, and it caused my mother's death.
My mother would still be alive if the Blood Moon pack hadn't voted for Kane to be Alpha instead of my father.
"When we are done, I'll hunt for Estelle and make her pay for what she did to me when she thought you were her father. I'll make her pay for looking down on me."
"I'm sorry, Sera. I know you were pushed on the side for years because of what I was working on, but it was all for you and Nolan."
"I'll call you later, Dad. Knox is home." I hung up the call and fixed my cleavage before the door opened.
"Hey, Knox."
"Hey. I'm sorry, I'm here to get a few things. I hope I didn't disturb your sleep."
He couldn't even look at me when he walked inside. He avoided me as if I were a disease.
He had refused to sleep on the same bed as me and didn't want to tell me why he had refused to touch me after spending a night with me before our wedding.
I feared that the pack would still not recognize me as their Luna if we didn't consummate our marriage bed, and that would risk all the plans I had.
"I was waiting for you to come home. You didn't sleep here last night, and it was our honeymoon." I followed him to the closet and shook my head when I saw him packing his clothes and leaving mine behind.
I folded my arms and leaned against the door frame. I wondered if his actions had anything to do with Estelle since I was told he might be mated to her.
That b***h had a habit of stealing everything that was meant to be mine.
"What's going on? Where are you going?"
He sighed before he turned to me. "I'll do my duty as your husband and treat you as my Luna, but you're not my mate, Seraphina, and I won't treat you as such. We won't share a bedroom if we want things to run smoothly in our marriage. You can have this one, and I'll have the guestroom."
'No, damnit. That can't be possible if I want to run this pack one day. People must believe in our love affair, Knox, and I won't let you ruin my plans.' I thought as I leaned toward him and returned the shirts in his hands to the closet.
"This room was built for the future Alpha of the Blood Moon pack, and I won't let you leave. You are my husband, and I'll do as you wish, but I'd rather be the one who moves out."
I cupped his cheek and smiled at him before I walked to the closet and packed my clothes, and just as I expected, he sighed and grabbed my wrist.
"Sera."
I tilted my head and looked at him. "Don't worry, Knox, I won't take long. I'll be scarce and refrain from being in your presence for as long as you want. You'll find me in the guestroom when you're ready to be my husband."
"No, don't leave. You're my wife, so it wouldn't be proper for you to leave my bedroom."
"Just as it wouldn't be proper for you to leave your bedroom, Knox." I closed the gap between us and looked at him. "I know you loved someone else before we got married, and it's okay. You don't have to pretend to love me, but all I ask is for you to acknowledge me as your wife. This is an obligation to me as it is to you."
I wrapped my arm around his neck and leaned his face toward mine, but just when our mouths were about to collide, he pulled away and left the room.
I groaned in frustration and paced around the room, wondering what it would take to get him into my bed.
My cell phone rang, and I hesitated to answer it before I groaned and returned to the bedroom to answer the call.
"Hello?"
"Miss Fenwick. Your sister is here. She'll be spending the night in Howard's guesthouse."
"Send me the location, and I'll be there as soon as possible." I hung up the call, took a coat and car keys, and left.
'Now we will see if you will continue loving her even in death, Knox.'
