Chapter 0006

•ESTELLE• “What are you doing here, Killian? Is this a joke?” I snarled after pulling him aside when my father asked to talk with his father. “A joke?” He scoffed and folded his arms across his chest. “You and I had a lovely night, Estelle. You were better than I expected for an omega. I wonder what your father thought when he arranged my marriage to a wolf-less Luna.” My heart skipped a beat at his words, and I stepped back and shook my head. No one outside the Blue Moon Howlers pack knew I couldn’t turn. My father hid it from the pack house as the alpha, preventing people from gossiping behind our backs and calling me names. After my 18th birthday and failure to meet my mate and turn, my father kept me away from the community and told them I was under supervision because of the aggressiveness of my wolf when turning. No one asked questions, and no one knew the truth. “That’s—” I breathed. “That is why you rejected me.” “Exactly. I’ll be the Alpha after my father, so I can’t have a powerless and useless Luna by my side.” “Yet, you shared a bed with me.” “And you won’t say a word to anyone, do you hear me?” He leaned forward, pointing his finger at me. “I won’t marry an omega who is pregnant with another man’s child. If you thought our marriage would cover your shame and curse, you’d better find another alpha who will be a weak man to accept you as his Luna,” he sneered before he walked past me and left. I stood in the living room hallway and felt like my heart was being ripped apart all over again. I leaned against the wall and placed my hand on my stomach. I wondered why the moon goddess had made me a laughingstock in my pack. The possibility of my child being wolf-less and mocked caused my chest to tighten. When I returned to the sitting room, my father called me in, and Knox smirked when he saw me walk in to sit next to my father. “Say congratulations to your cousin, for she is to marry Knox Storm and be the future Luna of the Blood Moon pack. Their marriage would bring the two packs together and unite our omega training academy.” “Oh.” I looked at Seraphina and flashed her a faint smile. “That’s wonderful, sister. You will make a wonderful wife to the Blood Moon pack heir.” Everyone congratulated them while I sat there and watched as Seraphina claimed what was mine. Though I was pregnant with another man’s child, Knox was my mate and the man I was supposed to be with. When they were done with their congratulations, Seraphina pulled me aside and wrapped her arms around me before she whispered in my ear. “When I am Luna of the Blood Moon pack, I’ll ensure you’re excluded from our treaty and banished. You left the pack house and fell pregnant with a human, Elle. You’ve brought shame to our house, and I won’t let it go unpunished.” “Hmm,” I scoffed when she pulled away. “Your mother in Europe would be proud to see you marry, though she left when she saw you turn and saw a monster.” Her smile faded as soon as it appeared on her face, and she closed the gap between us. “Keep my mother’s name off your lips, or I’ll order it to be cut off,” she snarled. I chuckled. “Even when you’re Luna to the Blood Moon pack, you won’t have the power to order my lips to be cut off. So, remember that when you’re married to Knox Storm, even when you’re his wife, my parents are pure blood, and that means there’s nothing you can do to me.” She looked at me and frowned before she turned her back on me and walked over to Knox, grabbed his hand, and walked away with him. “You shouldn’t have come here to bring me dishonor and disgrace,” my father scolded me when everyone had left us in the sitting room. “I’m sorry, Father. I wanted to come home and make things right. Please forgive me.” “Forgive you? Did you see what you’ve done? Your cousin will be the Luna of the Blood Moon pack because you failed to honor me and do what I instructed you. Do you know what this means for you?” “I’ll do whatever you want, but please, Dad, don’t send me away. There’s nothing out there for me, but what I have here in our pack house.” “What do you think the council would say when they find out about your pregnancy and the man you got married to before you returned home?” Seeing my father’s anger brought me a lot of pain, and I didn’t know how to convince him to see my sincerity in asking to be accepted back home. After Asher broke my heart, I had nowhere else to be. Not only did Asher break my heart, but he also cheated on the day of our wedding and accused me of cheating on him with his driver. I was totally wrecked and had nothing left. “You’re my father, and I know you wouldn’t cast me aside.” “If you don’t want to be banished from our pack, you must marry my second beta, Dan Blackwood.” “No, please,” I started crying. Dan Blackwood was as old as my father and known to be the most ruthless on the council. “You can’t marry me off to Dan. I am your daughter. How could you give me to a man old enough to be my father? He won’t let this baby live.” “That’s my final say, Estelle, or you can leave this pack early in the morning and never return.” “Why are you doing this to me?” I sniffed, kneeling before him. “You were supposed to marry Knox Storm a few months back, but you rejected it and told me you left home because you don’t want to be controlled and told what to do for the sake of the pack house. So, did you expect me to jump when you returned home and told me you wanted to marry Knox? Your brother and cousin have made this pack house proud by following my rules.” “I can’t marry Dan, Father. You can arrange anyone for me, but not him. He is heartless. I will lose my baby in his hands, so please, don’t force me to marry him,” I begged, grabbing his leg. “You either marry Dan or you’re banished from my pack.” I hoped he would feel pity for me and reconsider his decision, but he didn’t even seem to regret his decision. Instead, he clicked his tongue and walked away, leaving me on my knees.
