“You’ll hand her a contract?” Holland asked when he had delivered the papers.
I went through the document to make sure he had included everything I told him to, and when I had ensured everything was in order, I slipped it back into the envelope.
“This will give me time to work out a plan to make Victoria my Luna. Seraphina will merely be her placeholder.”
“If she finds out, she might end the marriage before she has served her term as your Luna.”
“That’s not my worry. Besides, she’s naïve and would do anything to be my Luna. So, don’t worry, Holland, I know exactly what I’m doing.”

“If you and I are to be husband and wife, shouldn’t we spend the night together and get to know each other better?” Seraphina swooned as she unbuttoned my shirt when we got to her bedroom.
“I thought we would wait until we are married to consummate our marriage bed, or isn’t that what you also wanted?”
“Come on, Knox. We aren’t living in the 18th century anymore. I will be your Luna in three days, so we should get to know each other in the bedroom. We don’t need to wait until our wedding.”
I grabbed her wrist and stopped her from taking off my shirt. I wasn’t in the mood to be in bed with her, not when someone else was on my mind.
“This should wait until our marriage.” I fixed my shirt and placed the document on her pedestal counter.
She looked at it and sighed when she saw the heading. “Are we really doing this right now? I thought you and I could build something together. Have you wondered what it means to be your Luna?”
“You will rule beside me, but that doesn’t mean you are my mate. There’s someone I would rather share my bed with, but for the sake of our packs, I will marry you. So, you shouldn’t constantly expect intimacy with me unless I want a child through you.”
Her face changed, and she covered her chest with her gown. “Fine.”
“Read the document, and I expect it to be signed before our wedding. If you don’t agree with what’s in there, I want to know so I can arrange for our marriage to be paused. Those conditions are non-negotiable.” I walked to the door to leave, but before I could twist the doorknob, Seraphina said something that stopped my hand mid-air.
“I saw the way you were looking at Estelle. Is she your mate? Would you have gone through with the wedding if she hadn’t left?”
“You should get to bed.” I turned the doorknob and walked out.
I swore under my breath as I headed out to my car, and when I saw Estelle leaving for her room through my rearview mirror, I roared the engine to life and drove away.
My dad was just about done talking to his beta when I walked in and put my car keys on the counter.
“You don’t look too well, son. What’s wrong?” He asked when Jason had left.
“I don’t understand why we are licking Leonard’s ass by me marrying Seraphina. She’s not the woman I want to be with, and you know that.”
“She’s an Alpha’s niece, Knox. If you want to be Alpha after me, you must marry her. Aren’t you the one who chose her over Estelle? She could’ve been your Luna, but you made your choice.”
“Who set the bloody rule anyway?!” I snapped. “It’s my birthright as your son to be the Alpha after you, regardless of whom I marry. My heart is with Victoria, the one you’ve denied me to be with.”
“That’s enough, Knox. We’ve had this conversation before, and I don’t want to repeat myself. You won’t marry an omega. She will be the ruin of our pack,” he sneered. “If you want to choose another bride, you have until morning before Leonard gives Estelle to his beta.” He walked away and left me standing there, wondering what he meant.
When Estelle and I spent the night together after we met at the restaurant, I found out she had never turned, and I knew she wouldn’t be the one for me.
If my father and the pack found out my Luna was an omega, they would renounce me as their Alpha, and I had worked hard to be the next Alpha.
For some odd reason, instead of calling Victoria and meeting her, I took my car keys from the counter and drove back to the Moon Howler’s pack territory.
I parked my car at a far distance from Estelle’s house, and when I saw her leaving the house with her father and Dan, heading to the council’s hall, my chest tightened, and I got filled with rage.
I couldn’t get out and claim what I had rejected, but I also couldn’t bear seeing my mate being given to another man.
I was happy with Victoria even though I knew she wasn’t my mate, but when I met Estelle, everything changed. Though we declared our mate bond void when I rejected her, she was my rightful Luna.
“The council has declared you Dan’s wife, and you should be on your way to his house. You know this was the only way for us to conceal the baby growing inside you. If we wait until morning, people will know you returned with a bastard child.”
“Yes, Father.”
I gripped my hands on the steering wheel when I heard their conversation. I turned on the engine and drove off, heading to Seraphina’s house.
She was on a phone call when I turned the doorknob and walked inside. She was wearing nothing underneath her gown, and when she saw me approaching her, she hung up the call and gasped.
“Knox? What are you doing here?”
I didn’t answer her as I slammed my lips against hers and tore the gown off her body.
