Chapter 0012

•KNOX• On the morning of my wedding to Seraphina, after getting dressed, I called my mother, hoping to talk with her after we had gone months without exchanging a word. When she found out what my father was and where he was taking me, she wanted nothing to do with me, and so I cut her and my siblings off from my life. “Killian.” “Mother.” “We haven’t spoken or seen each other for years. What do you want? Why are you calling me now after you told me you couldn’t return home?” “I am getting married, and I wanted you to know that I wish you were here.” “You’re no longer my son, Killian,” she answered. “You made it clear to me the last time we talked you did not belong in our world. It would be best to keep your distance from me and my family.” “How could you say that to your own son?” I leaned back from the window and sat on the couch. “You are my mother, and you knew what I would become when you dated my father. How is it my fault that I am what I am?” “If your father had told me what he was, I wouldn’t have conceived you. I would’ve stayed far away from him and prevented your existence. You’re a monster, Killian, and I will never be the mother of a monster.” The call ended with a beep, and I just sank back on the couch, fighting back tears. I didn’t expect my mother to say that. From a young age, she saw I was different, and she never tried to stop my father from taking me away. It felt as if she were rejecting me because she probably never wanted me. My cell phone rang, snapping me back to earth. “Asher,” I answered the call. “How are you?” “My mom told me you called, and she’s crying now because you threatened her, but she won’t tell me what you said to her.” “Threatened her?” I scoffed when I realized she couldn’t bear to tell Asher the truth about me. “Stay away from me and my mother, Killian. You’re no longer a part of us, and if I hear you call my mother and threaten her again, I’ll find you and make you pay. Do you hear me? Before you forget, don’t call me again.” He hung up the call just when I was about to respond. I scoffed when I stood up from the couch and looked at myself in the mirror near the window. Everyone had gathered in the garden, preparing for the wedding of their future Alpha and Luna, and I looked at the text that Victoria had sent, telling me she was on her way. I wanted Seraphina and everyone in our pack to know my desired woman — the one they didn’t want me to get married to because she didn’t belong in our pack house. “Son.” My father called behind me as he entered the room and closed the door. I turned to him and smiled. “Father.” “I see you’re ready for the wedding. The collaboration between the Blue Moon Howlers and the Blood Moon will be the greatest in history. We will defeat our common enemies and train the best omega warriors.” “Has she arrived?” “Alpha Leonard will walk her down the aisle once he’s done sorting out the issue with his daughter. So, you need to be ready, son. The bride must find you at the altar.” “Sorting out the issue with her daughter? The one he married off to his beta?” I scoffed. “That man is old enough to be her father. I can’t believe we are collaborating with people like him.” “That’s enough, Knox. Alpha Leonard did what was best for her daughter even though she had been missing from her pack for three years. She was going to be banished, but he couldn’t let his daughter suffer that.” ‘So, her father married her off to Dan to hide her pregnancy from his pack, so they would think Dan was the father? What a smart move, Alpha Leonard.’ “I’ll be out in a few minutes, Father. Thank you for passing by. I’ll see you in the garden.” My father nodded with a smile before he turned around and left. When I looked out the window and saw Alpha Leonard greeting people and laughing, I loosened my tie and walked out to him. When I got to the garden, I asked to speak with him in private. “Prince Knox, it’s a pleasure to see you before your wedding to my niece. Is everything alright?” He asked me as I closed the living room door. “How could you force your daughter to marry your beta?” I frowned as I leaned toward him. “What kind of father are you?” “How dare you talk to an alpha in that way, Knox? Until you’re Alpha, I am your superior, and you have no right to talk to me like that!” he snapped. “I’ll talk to you any way I want, and there’s nothing you can do about it,” I growled, my hands clenching. “Estelle is my daughter, and I can do whatever I want with her. Would you have preferred my daughter to remain single when she might never meet her mate at her age? So, Knox, I would advise you to keep your opinions to yourself and never interfere with my family affairs. It’s none of your business how I handle my daughter.” ‘How could I tell him I am his daughter’s mate but rejected her because she doesn’t have her wolf? Yet, my heart still yearned for her, though I had broken our bond, which would be impossible to get back.’ “It’s my business when I’m about to marry your niece. I—” I stopped, feeling my heart pound like it did when Estelle was in proximity. “Is she here?” “Seraphina? Yes. She’s in her bridal room. I’ll check on her and forget the conversation we just heard. Hopefully, nothing will change in our collaboration.” He turned to the door and walked out. ‘Not her. Estelle.’ I walked out the door and looked around the garden, hoping to see her, but I felt confused because I wasn’t supposed to feel her around after we had broken our mating bond. “Mr. Storm, the ceremony is ready to proceed.” My father’s Beta, Howard, informed me. I fixed my tie and went to the altar, waiting for Seraphina, and though I saw Victoria in the crowd, Estelle’s scent distracted me. Behind Seraphina, Dan Blackwood approached, and I knew he had left her behind in his car. People stood up when Seraphina walked down the aisle, but without thinking twice, I launched toward Dan, hissing as I pinned him to the floor. “Where is she?” “Where is who?” he dared to ask, looking surprised. “I don’t know what you’re talking about, Knox.” “You may be the Beta to Alpha Leonard Fenwick, but I can tear you into pieces and feed your body to the birds. For the last time, where is she?” I snarled. “Estelle is my wife, Knox, and don’t forget that you rejected the offer to marry her and chose Seraphina. Why are you regretting your decision now?” he chuckled. When I realized the attention we were drawing to ourselves, I got off him and helped him up. Alpha Leonard shot me a deadly look, and my father leaned toward me and whispered. “How dare you assault Alpha Leonard’s Beta in front of people? Do you want them to call off this wedding because of your behavior?” “No, father.” I looked at the entrance, thinking she might walk in. “I’m sorry about my carelessness.” Seraphina looked at the scene in horror, but when I returned to the altar, she smiled as her uncle walked her to me.
