Camila’s deep brown eyes were deeper than it used to be as she shook the glass times without number, her face was lined with annoyance until the bar attendant was back to the counter with her candy.
“Pretty lady, I’m back with your candy.” He said, while she wore a smile collecting the candy from him.
“Thank you so much.” She said and danced away carrying the glass carefully, “Amora!” She called when she danced towards her.
A huge tall man was dancing behind Amora, “Amora!!” She called again and that’s when Amora turned to acknowledge her presence.
“You’re back Camila. What took you so long? I’ve been waiting.” Amora said and collected the glass on Camila’s left hand and began to drink.
“Becareful Amora, you will choke on that!” She yelled while Amora giggled drinking until her glass was empty.
“Thanks!!!” Amora yelled and began to dance away again.
Camila was dancing beside her, “Do you still think of Antonio?” She asked, sipping her drink.
“No! I feel free here Camila. Thank you for bringing me here, you always know what I want.”
“Let’s leave here, it’s so noisy.” Camila suggested and she didn’t hesitate to follow Camila as they headed out of the party hall.
That’s when it hit her. Her legs suddenly ceased moving, her eyes were rolling in their sockets and she could see things in twos, threes and fours… “Amora, are you okay?” Camila asked as Amora swayed from side to side.
“I don’t know what’s wrong with me but…” a low rumble in her stomach, “Oh my God, Camila I don’t know what’s wrong with me.” She stopped moving, holding her head which had started aching, the whole world was turning around.
She felt like she was spinning , her eyes were blurry, “Camila, I don’t know…” what’s happening? She blacked out.
“Amora! Amora, what’s wrong with you? Somebody help me! I don’t know what’s wrong with my friend!!!” Camila held onto a young man coming her way, “Please help me! Help me!!”

Mr. Francesco rushed into the hospital, hurried towards the receptionist, “Hello, I heard my daughter…” his eyes fell on Camila and he ran towards her.
“What’s wrong with her? Why did she faint? And why the heck will she go clubbing when I told her to stay home!!!”
Camila was fretting, she was shaking and trickles of tears were in her eyes. “I don’t know what happened but she suddenly came over to my side and suggested we go party.”
“Party!? Why didn’t you talk her out of it? You’re the most sensible amongst the two of you and yet, you let her override you!”
“I’m so sorry, I should’ve taken better care of her. I should’ve done a lot by protecting her.” Camila began to cry.
Mr. Francesco sighed out, “What did the doctor say?” He asked and just then, the doctor walked out of Amora’s ward.
They both rushed to the doctor, “What’s wrong with her?” Mr. Francesco asked.
“Well, I found some dangerous drugs in her system…”
“Drugs??! Francesco snapped cursing under his breath. “How did drugs get into her system?”
“Sir, maybe she was taking drugs.” The doctor said checking the files in his hand, “She needs to take care of her health as these are dangerous to her system. But for now, she’s okay and in good condition. She’s only sleeping.”
Francesco clenched his fist as the doctor walked off, he turned to Camila, “You knew about this? You knew she was into drugs, didn’t you?”
“I’m sorry, she told me that she would stop taking drugs. I…I tried…I tried advising her but she was always violent to me so I stopped.” Camila said in a quivering voice clawing her nails.
Francesco wore a marvelous look on his face, he had no idea that his daughter had gotten this bad. He walked his way into the ward with Camila following from behind.
Amora’s eyes fluttered open, her head still banging, she tried to focus her eyes, she sat up, looking around. Where is she? She was seeing blue curtains, a bedside table, a TV, a hospital stretcher, was she by chance in a hospital?
She could remember dancing with Camila… “Amora, really? You will keep on being a nuisance and always make me regret having you as my daughter?” Francesco, her father’s voice, brought her to reality.
She saw him standing a bit farther away from the bed, crossing his plump arms around his chest, her heart ceased. “Papà (Dad.)” She called and her eyes caught Camila standing beside her father.
“Papà? Am I really your dad when all you do every single time is to disgrace me, embarrass me and make me feel less of myself. I just wish…” he swallowed his last words but it didn’t stop Amora from finishing the last sentence in her head.
What has she done this time to warrant this? She may have fallen down, she may have been in danger, isn’t he supposed to be worried about her health just like every other father!
“Dad, I…”
“Don’t say anything. This is why I got you a job but what did you do with it?”
“Dad, you made me not to work! You said you can’t have me tainting your name outside.” She tried to defend herself weakly.
“And ever since, you never figured out why I never let you work?” Father and daughter’s eyes burned into each other for a while, “Camila, take care of her. I don’t want to look at her face at all.” He said, opened the door and left.
Amora sighed out, her head banging and at the same time, her eyes were filled with tears. “Did you see that, Camila? Mio padre mi odia così tanto. (My father hates me so much!) I don’t have an idea of what happened or what I’m doing here but he just hates me and everything I do.” Camila ran to her side.
She cuddled her close, “It’s okay. It’s okay, I’m so glad you’re fine and that’s all that matters. I was so scared that I may have lost you. I was so scared that something bad happened to you Amora. Don’t faint on me like that ever again.” Camila said crying.
“I’m so sorry.” She patted Camila until they hugged each other.
“Forget about what your father ever says to you, I’m the only person who should matter in your life, I’m the only person you need, Amora. I will be there for you every single time.”
Amora smiled. “Thank you Camila.”
“It’s okay and I think your father is seeing another woman.”
