» Three years ago.
It was a windy day actually,smooth breeze, yet dusty air. It wasn't the best season as people did not really want to come out.
Yet,a young girl with a box of cookies in her hands,her hair done into braids and done a round bun,she had a heart shaped face, with wide slightly closed dark brown eyes glittered,her pink lips were done in a pout as she was constantly begging Derick to try out her cookies, currently .
" Sir , please try out my cookies,if you like them you could visit my bakery,I just opened it a week ago. But,I promise you that you would fall in love with it . ", She said in her young soft voice.
" I'm not interested . ", He said coldly,his girlfriend had just left him for greener pastures,for his own brother ! ,he was broken,he tried to be indifferent,but his eyes were consumed with hurt.
" I know you must be going through alot,but so am I . I promise that,if you have a piece of my cookies,you would feel better . '' She said with a wide smile,her smile was so contagious ,Derick just had to smile too.
" Thank you. ", He took the flyer and munched on the cookie,the chocolate fill inside the cookie melted in his mouth instantly,so warm and sweet.
"Did you like it?", Seeing his million dollar smile,she knew he enjoyed it. " It's the best !, I am Derick, by the way. "
" Oh... I am Vannette,but you could call me Vanny. " ,She said with a smile and stretched her hand out for a handshake.
" I will go with big head, friends ? " Derick asked with a smile,it wouldn't hurt to start anew.
" Big head?, Not cool... Anyways,yeah friends, I have to go now. Here's my flyer, visit,'everything sweet and nice,by the VMN sisters' ! ,Don't forget to come by D-Derick. ", She reminded him and handed him the flyer.
" Yeah,I won't miss it. Bye big head. " , Derick waved her,Vannette waved back and was about to walk away when she turned around and gave him a friendly hug, " That's my way of telling you, whatsoever you are passing through,you will make it out fine, bye ! " , She immediately left to continue advertising her bakery .
Derick smiled and felt the shattered pieces of his heart , reunite to a small extent . He knew once , that ,that girl had to be part of his life ,she had an effect on him,she sparked a tiny flame in his heart . He stared at her retreating figure ,for a while , before he finally took his leave .
And,like the young girl said,he actually felt better.

Derick got back home and shut the door behind him. He felt his phone vibrate from his pocket and immediately ,he knew it was his mom .
She would once again try to persuade him into coming back home ,but he would not . In his family , all that mattered was money,so coming here to the outskirts of the city ,was better , as he lived on the low like a normal person and he was able to make his first ever true friend .
He switched his phone off and walked into the bathroom , to wash up and get changed , he was not leaving till Vannette was his .
When he entered the washroom,he switched on the faucet ,the water from the shower poured on him , making him a calm .
