Dominic's POV I closed my door quietly, like the sound itself might accuse me. I leaned my forehead against the wood for a moment longer than necessary. Her voice wouldn’t leave me alone. ‘I’ve felt this way since high school.’ Not last year. Not recently. Not since she returned. Years. I exhaled slowly and straightened, loosening my tie with fingers that didn’t feel like my own. The knot slid free, fell onto the dresser. I didn’t bother hanging the jacket. It landed on the chair the same way I had, without care. Callie’s face when she said it replayed in pieces. She was honest and raw in a way that didn’t ask for permission. The pool. That was what unsettled me most..Not the kiss. Not the confession. The pool. You saved me. I had forgotten that night. Or at least, I’d buried
