Malori
Even within the pack dynamic, there are various smaller families and friend groups. Each with their own form of pack hierarchy. Malori's group of friends didn't contain any high strung alpha's, but, rather it was all of the outcasts that seemed to follow her despite her being an omega.
"So did you manage to get the history homework done? Wait, why am I asking, of course you didn't."
Terra was a smaller girl with mud brown hair and a very lithe figure, she had hazel eyes and slightly tanned skin. She had a habit for wearing shorts and crop tops, said it allowed her wolf to breath more. She also happened to be a Beta and a top athlete on the school's running team.
"You know how it is in the pack house," Malori grumbled, Terra hummed before pulling out some papers and sliding them in front of her.
"I figured enough so I did it for you. But do I really need to do it for you? I mean you literally have the top marks in our year level."
"I could probably manage well enough without it, but why do you keep doing it even without me asking for the help? I'm an omega and you're a beta."
"We're also friends and I don't know, with you I feel there's no need to lead and I'm sure the others agree with me. We respect you as our friend unlike many of the others," Terra shrugged sitting down next to Malori.
Mr. Parker was an alright history teacher, he always tried to keep things interesting for all the students. His family were considered the custodians of the Silvermane pack's ancient history and it was their job to constantly record the past, present and future of the pack.
"Malori, a word if I may?" He asked once the bell ended and all the students started filing out.
"I'll see you at lunch then," Terra said as she packed up her books and left.
"Is there something you need from me Mr. Parker?" Malori asked.
"As you are aware, the blood moon is only a week away which also happens to be the day you graduate as well as your birthday. Are you prepared for what will happen after that?"
"I'm not sure, I still haven't decided what I am going to do after graduation."
"As I'm sure you are aware, my family are the custodians of our pack's history. Should you wish to consult with me about your future away from prying eyes and school classes, you need only seek me out," he said with a bright smile.
"Is it true? About Silvermane?" Malori asked.
"What do you mean?"
"That he lead a group of outcasts to become wolves and fought off the vampires that were invading our lands?"
"We are all wolves who descended from them, the clans all started from those very warriors who followed Silvermane. Times have changed and the packs all have our own territories but our history remains the same."
"Thank you for answering me, is there anything else you require me for?"
"That will be all, just know that like every wolf in our pack my knowledge is available to you should you require it."
Malori just nodded her head and headed out to her next class where she paid just as must attention as she did to history. Only this time she didn't have her friends with her. The minutes felt like hours to her and she couldn't be any more thankful when the lunch bell sounded.
"So what did Parker need you for?" Terra asked sitting down and throwing her legs up on the lunch table as she arrived.
"He was just asking me if I was ready for life after graduation, and that if I needed a history lesson I could always seek him out," Malori replied.
"So what are you going to do after graduation Mal?" sitting down on my right was Ashleigh, Ash ran track and field and while not being as quick as Terra, she was the most experienced in pack competitions. Her brunette hair reached just under her shoulders and her eyes were an odd pigment of emerald, certainly rare amongst out pack. She stood only slightly shorter than Malori was but she also had a larger chest. Not to mention she is another beta.
"Yea, you need to let the rest of us know so we can plan," Kendra sat down on my left.
"What would a bunch of omegas and betas be planning?" a voice sneered.
Malori let out a sigh as walking towards them with her perfectly straightened bleached blonde hair, manicured nails and overly makeup caked face was Melissa. Melissa made it her personal goal to torment Malori as much as possible, luckily being around other Beta's meant that Malori wasn't quite taken advantage of. But the animosity between Melissa and Malori was a bit more than there normally should be.
"What we're going to do to celebrate Mal's birthday, what's it to you?" Terra replied seeming almost bored.
"Oh, it's the Omega's birthday? must have forgotten because I'm getting ready for graduation."
"What did you forget?" a male voice asked and Malori and her friends watched as Melissa immediately did a 180 and changed her personality.
"Oh hey baby, your sister and her friends were just reminding me about her birthday. I had forgotten about it with all the craziness of preparing for graduation."
Malori eyed her brother; Christian stood at 6ft tall with broad shoulders and a well defined body from years of training. The pack dynamic was quite traditional, all males of a higher standing family, even the omegas, were trained to fight especially other supernaturals like vampires. Females could opt to learn if they wanted to, or if they were an omega, given the permission to fight by the alpha male of the family.
"So what are you planning on doing for your birthday? You know what happens at midnight right? The entire pack is having a bonfire to commemorate the blood moon and everyone is expected to be there. That especially includes us as Dad is pack beta and I will be the next pack beta," he said looking down at Malori.
"Celebrate beforehand with your friends if you want, but you will be with the family for it. As your beta, do you understand me?" Malori shrunk back but nodded her head in submission, it's not like she could ever go against her brother's orders.
Malori bit her tongue managing to keep the retort she had in mind to herself as Christian walked away, she watched as Melissa basically draped herself all over her brother all the while sending her a sneer with a look that basically said 'You can't do anything about it' despite the fact that Melissa had yet to shift so it wasn't quite apparent if she and Christian were mates.
"I just want to punch her in the goddamn f*****g face," Kendra grumbled stabbing her pasta aggressively.
"So, it looks like abandoning the pack is a viable idea? I mean, as long as the four of us have each other we can take on any and all challenges the world has for us, right?" Terra asked.
"I wouldn't want you guys to lose what potential you have for me," Malori said picking through her food.
"Friends stick together Mal, through thick or thin," Ash put in.
"Let's not think too much about it right now, it's our last week of school. Let's just enjoy it as best we can and think about after graduation when it comes to it," Malori said and everyone agreed with her.
"On the bright side, at least you'll be turning 18 and you'll be able to connect with your inner wolf. Omega or not that's at least a bonus, the rest of us have to wait for our birthday's," Kendra said with a pout.
