(Damon) The hallway hummed low with silence as I leaned against the study’s doorframe. I held a tumbler of untouched whiskey as sweated coated my hand. The house was quiet and still, but my mind wasn’t. Ever since Elara arrived, nothing feels like mine anymore. It’s like she took control of the air and softened every edge I spent years hardening.
