As I wake I feel cold and numb all over except for a painful headache, everything is dark apart from a few dim blurry lights. I don’t know if it’s my eyes or if it’s from the dark but I can’t seem to focus my eyes on anything. I go to rub my eyes to try and clear my vision and I realise my hands are tied. I know I’m in the back of a truck and it’s cold and windy. The truck is bouncing up and down as we drive along the uneven surface, it’s making me roll around uncontrollably and I keep knocking my head on the bottom of the truck bed. I can hear shouts and leery slurs coming from the cabs open windows.
That’s when I see something else thumping around in the back of the truck next to me. I strain to try and make it out, it’s Callie my sister swaying back and forth with the movement of the truck. Her hands are tied and she’s out cold. I can’t make much out in the dark but I can see she’s naked apart from her mini skirt that has ridden up and is around her waist. She has panties on but they look torn and dirty. I realise I’m freezing as I too only have a torn top on and my panties. All my other clothes are gone.
I can’t remember how we got to be here, but I know that there is nothing good ahead. I need to wake Callie up so we can make a run for it the first chance we get.
“Callie?” I call softly.
I use my legs that are also tied to push off the edge of the truck’s side panel to try and edge towards her.
“Callie?”
I grab her arm with my tied hands and try to shake her awake. “Callie?”
Oh Lord, please Lord, please let her be alive.
The loud drunken slurs still booming out of the cab, I hear someone say, “one of them’s awake”.
The truck slows down and I hear the back window of the cab slide open.
I decide to freeze, close my eyes and flop my head so it looks as if I’m still out.
The truck speeds up again and I hear one of them say with a deep, gruff tone that sends shivers down my spine, “not to worry, we’re nearly there and they are tied, so even if the drugs are wearing off they won’t be able to make a runner. Not yet anyhow”, he sniggers.
“Besides they need to wake up sometime, or it won’t be much fun for us, now will it?”
I hear him take a swig of his drink and then I hear the bottle smash against a tree as he must have thrown the empty bottle out of window.
“Give me another bump.”
The truck sways as I hear him sniffing hard.
That voice, it sends shivers down my spine. It fills me with the fear of God. I don’t know what has happened to Callie and I, but I do know that whatever it was, he had something to do with it and as much as his voice fills me with fear and dread, I know that I HATE him more then I fear him.
“Callie.... Callie... wake up!” I push Callie as hard as I can.
Nothing
I feel the truck slow down, it’s a relief because the arm I’m laying on is feeling like it’s been through a meat grinder after that bumpy drive.
I try to look around me, trying to see if there is a house or a building or a road or something that I can run to if I get the chance. But all I see is trees, trees for miles, a long, long dark road up what looks like a mountain, and more trees.
I get a flash of memory back and remember that Callie had convinced me to go with her in a helicopter with some rich guys to what was supposed to be a quiet, friendly, weekend party in the Alaskan mountains.
She said that she’d met her dream man and that he was our ticket to a better life. That she was going to win him over and they would marry and she would be rich and take care of me for the rest of our lives.
The worst feeling of dread and despair come over me. Like a hot, sickening wave washing over my body making the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and it makes my whole body stiffen.
Oh Lord, what have we got ourselves into? What has Callie got us into?
This is far from the luxurious high flying life she’d described. How the hell are we going to get out of here?
I look at Callie, she’s out cold, jostling around in the back of the truck.
How the hell am I going to get us out of here?
The truck stops dead, and the panic in my mind goes quiet. My eyes wide and my ears pricked, everything dead silent besides for the three drunk bastards in the front of the cab swigging their booze and snorting their drugs.
I hear a groan from Callie.
“Callie!” I whisper
“Callie, are you awake?”
Still nothing.
The driver side door opens with a jolt and makes the whole truck sway. The driver climbs out and makes his way over to the back of the truck while the other two climb out of the passengers side door.
One of the two from the passengers side says, “hey Blake, are you sure you really want to do this? I thought it was just a joke. I-I don’t know if I want to go through with this, it’s... it’s kind of f****d up man”.
The gruff voiced driver who I make out to be Blake the older of the three replies, “don’t be a p***y now! We decided to do this together. Besides we’ve all had our way with them. You want them going to the police and you getting arrested and having to tell the police why you mutilated that ones privates like you did?”
What does he mean? mutilated privates, the thought rushes through me, maybe Callie is dead, maybe they hurt her so bad that she’s bled to death. I feel so cold, so numb I can’t tell if it’s me or not. Oh God, please let it be me, please let it be me and not Callie. Please let her wake up....Lord!
The one who spoke earlier, the one Callie was supposed to ‘win over and marry’, I recognise his voice now, Barry. He says, “hey, I was up for the druggin and the rough s*x but you were the one that told us to do what we did with those things to them girls”.
Barry continues, “we were supposed to just drug em’ and have some fun and then drop em’ somewhere to sleep it off, you said them drugs would make it so they wouldn’t remember anything”.
“HEY!” Blake shouts, his voice booms through the silent forest, “don’t you go pointing fingers at me. You did this, same as me. You both did!”
I can hear the anger in his voice. He sounds intimidating as hell. “Now we got to get rid of them and make it so they never existed. You get me!
So why not have some fun while we doin it?”
He looks over at me and smiles with a disgusting grin that I will never forget. “Well hello darlin, you wakin up for us?”
He motions to one of the others and points to a locked box behind me. “Tomas get the key for the box, looks like the after party is about to begin”.
