Time heals all wounds

2280 Words
After a few days of Robin trying to wait on Cammie hand and foot and him refusing to let her do anything at all around the cabin. Cammie would complain about how bored she was and about how she felt better when she was able to move around and do things to help keep her mind occupied. He eventually gave in and started allowing Cammie to spend short periods of time on her feet in the kitchen. It started off with her making a pot of coffee or cooking the porridge in the morning, to gradually doing a few light chores around the cabin. Mostly she would sneakily wait for Robin to head outside to shovel snow and to check on and feed the livestock, before she would start an activity. Chores around the homestead kept him busy for a few hours at least and she knows, the minute he comes back into the cabin he is going to stop her from doing it and send her off back to the sofa or the bed to twiddle her thumbs. After a few days of this back and forth between them, Robin could tell that Cammie was starting to look and feel much better with everyday that passed. He also noticed that she slept better in the night when she had had something to keep her busy during the day. And so, he decided to ask her to do a few light jobs around the cabin. Not only did this appease Cammie’s boredom, but he cunningly gave her jobs that he knew she could do that wouldn’t over exert her or cause her fresh scars to tear. Where before Cammie was sneakily hoovering the cabin while he was outside, or changing the bedsheets, he now had her doing things like reorganising his paperwork and his desk. Which really it needed doing. He figured it would take a few days to do this as he gave her strict instructions to go slow. As the days became weeks and weeks soon became months, the days started to become longer and nights shorter, the snow was melting and winter was coming to an end. In the evenings, after they’d eaten their evening meal and cleaned up ready for the morning, they would listen to the radio and it became an evening tradition to have a game of cards or to play a game of truth or dare. It soon became apparent that Cammie was better at playing truth or dare then Robin was because she somehow got all of his secrets out of him within the first few nights of playing. But that’s because Robin wasn’t much for accepting a dare, while Cammie on the other hand loves a dare and avoids truth at all costs. It turns out that Robin is from a family of three children. He has always lived on this mountain and his favourite film is ‘homeward bound’, a film he watched as a kid years ago. “So, don’t you have a favourite film that you’ve watched as an adult?” Cammie laughs after Robin admits his favourite film is a kids film. “Not really, I don’t watch much tv, especially since I moved up here. There’s too much to do! Running a homestead on your own is a twenty-four-seven job”, he reply’s. “Why do you live up here on the mountain, On your own?” Callie asks. Robin’s face drops and deflects the question with, “it’s your turn, truth or dare?” He tries to coax her with a smile, “I’ve got a good truth question for you”. Cammie smiles her cheeky little smile that Robin is getting used to. He’s figured out some of Cammie’s little quirks. It’s the cheeky smile that tells him she wants to get up to mischief. Probably trying to avoid his truth question. Robin has noticed that Cammie can be very mischievous and she loves to wind him up with little sarcastic comments and innuendos. She also uses that little cheeky smile to butter him up so she can get her own way at times. He’s fully aware that she does it and he usually lets her get away with it because he likes the playfulness of it. Robin is actually really loving having Cammie here and he can tell that he is definitely starting to fall for her. Most of the time, when she isn’t lost in thoughts of her sister and that awful night, she’s lighthearted and hell she definitely has her funny moments. It’s apparent though that it’s still very raw and he doesn’t want to make her feel like she is being pressured into something she doesn’t want. Especially after what happened to her, God she most likely never wants to be with a man again after what she’s been through. So, even at times like this when they are being a little flirty with each other, he keeps the relationship plutonic. His dad always told him that good things come to those who wait and that if something is meant to be, then, it will be! Robin has noticed that of late, there have been less of the quiet and sad times where she goes off on her own and later in the night wakes with nightmares and he’s glad that she’s healing, both physically and mentally. It’s definitely true, time really does heal all wounds. Cammie, smiling her cheeky grin is trying to prod Robin for more info, “come on then, don’t be shy!” She says with a teasing little glint in her eye. “What’s a handsome, Alaskan mountain man like you, doing running this homestead on his own? I bet all the girls in town are falling over their own feet to come up here, wed you and make you their dream homestead husband.” Before Robin has a chance to answer, Cammie continues, “god knows this place is amazing, it has everything you could ever want or need for the perfect self sufficient life. The scenery is beautiful and a hunky man is a bonus, it’s the perfect place to raise a family, I mean, who wouldn’t want all of this?” Robin takes note that Cammie said that he was handsome and a hunky man. It makes him a little excited and he gets flutters in his stomach. He knows it’s early days yet after what Cammie’s been through, but he feels like everyday that passes he’s getting closer to her. Getting to know her better and better, and the more he gets to know her the more he likes spending time with her. He’s always thought she’s attractive, and he felt an instant connection with her from the first day she’d woken up. At first he thought he was just being over protective because he’d triggered some kind of cave man instinct to protect her after how he’d found her in such a vulnerable state. But now, he feels like he is really getting to know her and his feeling are just getting stronger everyday. Robin reply’s, “I guess there aren’t any girls IN TOWN that are right for me”. Still trying to avoid the whole, he was engaged to be married thing. Just then there’s a loud ‘THUD-SQUEAL’. “s**t, I think the pig pens wall has blown over again.” Robin gets up and peers out of the window. He can see pigs running around squealing in a panic. “I’m going to have to go sort that out before it’s too dark to see anything. It’s still too cold for the pigs to go alfresco in the night.” Robin heads out to the shed and gets his tools. Cammie watches him from the kitchen window. She can see he’s struggling to hold the wall up while trying to nail gun it in place. She watches as he tries but it falls over again and again. She giggles a little because she can hear him from in the house swearing and cussing. She doesn’t have a coat, but grabs the thick hoody Robin gave her to wear when she went out into the garden yesterday for a little stroll around the homestead. Robin has graciously given her free reign to wear basically anything she wants to wear in his wardrobe. He doesn’t have much else other then T-shirt’s that are way too big for her and his work trousers that are too loose on her hips. There are two pairs of tracksuit bottoms that manage to rest on her hips only just. So she alternates between the two pairs that stay up and when she has to wash them she basically just wears a baggy T-shirt as if it was night dress with some of his thick work boot socks. Not very glamorous but what can a girl do when stuck on the side of a snowy mountain without any clothes. This being one of those days where the tracksuit bottoms have been washed and are hanging out to dry, so Cammie is basically in her T-shirt nightdress, she grabs the hoody Robin let her wear the day before, noticing how it smelled of him and takes a little deep whiff because thy smell, his smell! There’s something comforting and safe about it, and comfort and safety is a real turn on right now. Cammie rolls her eyes at herself, “what is going on with you girl!” She says out loud before putting her feet into Robins rubber welly boots that are standing on the mat next to the door and she heads out to help Robin hold the wall up so he can nail it back in place. As Cammie trudges through the snow slowly toward Robin who is so busy cussing, all red faced and annoyed he doesn’t seem to hear her come, so she decides to sneak up to him and surprise him from behind. As Cammie gets to just behind Robin, he hears her boots crunch underfoot in the last remaining snow of the season and he turns round with such haste that he bumps Cammie’s arm and in order to save her from falling he grabs her by the hand and jerks her back in towards him. It doesn’t help though because now they are both unsteady and Cammie falls into his chest causing Robin to fall backward, dragging Cammie down on top of him. Cammie’s right hand is wedged underneath Robins arm. Robins right hand is now stuck underneath him with both of their full weight on top of it, while his left hand which he tried to use to help break Cammie’s fall, is firmly gripped onto Callie’s right boob. Unable to move they lay in the snow face to face, eyes to eyes, nose to nose, lips to lips. At first frozen with the shock of it all and unable to move because they are pining each other down. Cammie’s left leg is in between Robins legs and she is laying with her full weight on top of him. Because she’s much smaller then Robin, her bare inner thigh is basically laying over and resting directly on top of Robins groin. After a moment of staring into each other’s eyes, Cammie can feel the hardness of Robins manhood grow against the bare skin of her inner thigh and although she knows it’s probably just an involuntary reaction to the friction of her leg skimming his groin during the fall, Cammie gets a twitch between her own groin and an overwhelming need to kiss Robin comes over her. She leans in and as if he was waiting for the kiss to happen. The moment their lips touch its as if gasoline has been struck with a match and a fiery passion engulfs them both. Cammie doesn’t know what’s come over her, she can’t stop herself. She wonders to herself, why isn’t Robin stopping her? I mean, they definitely have a connection and get on like a house on fire, sometimes things get a little flirty between them but mostly, Robin treats Cammie like she’s his sister and she has never felt like he’s tried to come on to her ever. The kiss is hot and ferocious and with every press of their mouths, as if trying to devour each other, Cammie can feel Robins semi getting bigger and harder. Now, a million thoughts running through her head, Cammie pulls away, looking into Robins eyes still, she laughs a silly, strange nervous laugh and Robin finally manages to roll over just enough for Cammie to free her hand from underneath him. Cammie gets up and straightens herself out. Robin gets up, he has a confused look on his face and Cammie can tell he doesn’t know what to say. “Sorry about that!” Cammie blurts out. “I’ve come to help you put the walls pigs up.” “The pigs wall up!” she corrects herself. Robin, still looking as if he’s been struck on the head with a tire iron which has caused a momentary loss of the ability to communicate, nods his head. He then turns to pick up the wall. He leans the wall up against the pigs hut and motions for Cammie too lean her body against it to keep it in place long enough for him to nail gun it back in place. Once the wall is back up Cammie rushes indoors, leaving Robin to his thoughts as he tidies his tools away and feeds and waters the pigs.
