Mirellie The first thing I noticed when I woke up was the sunlight. Golden light poured through the white curtains and stretched across the room, making everything glow softly. For several seconds, I simply stared at the ceiling in confusion before panic hit me. I shot upright, my heart racing as questions flooded my mind. How long had I slept? Why hadn't anybody woken me up? Was I late? Then reality slowly caught up with me. I wasn't in the pack house. I wasn't in my mother's house. Nobody was waiting for me. Nobody was angry. Nobody was about to burst through the door demanding to know why I was still in bed. I was in Hannah’s house. The realization settled over me slowly, followed by something even stranger. Relief.
