This story is a story about a boy trying to save other dogs from banishment and extinction. Dogs have being known to be mans best friend for centuries, but an ugly trend started to develop. Dogs began mauling new born babies for unexplained reasons.There was a particular man in this town who had a beautiful wife and a lovely dog. The wife gave birth a girl and the attention being given the dog was drastically reduced, the dog felt very bad and mauled the dog to death. The man had gone on a trip and when the wife saw what had happened she killed herself. When the man came back from his trip and learnt of what had happened, he shot the dog With this trend continuing,the man championed a cause for all dogs to be killed. Some of the dogs escaped dogs and went to live in a wasteland and they became mortal enemies with man. This dogs found a way to survive and lived on their own.It was considered a taboo among st other dogs for anyone of them to associate with man,same thing with the man.

Over the years most dogs totally forgot what it was like to be mans best friend and they had deep hatred for one another,however, some dogs so loved their man friends that the memories never left them,so their experiences was passed on to their pups but it was done in secrecy for it was a taboo to speak good about men in the land of the dogs and the same thing also happened in the land of men as some men and women secretly shared stories about dogs to their kids 

A young dog went out one day,it saw rabbit and decided to catch it and take it back home to its hungry family, it fell into one of the traps set by men and was about to be crushed to its death.A young boy who was being neglected at home decided to go into the bushes to be by himself. The boy saw the dog caught in the tarp and had pity on it.The boy took the dog to the house without the knowledge of its parents. It fed the dog and treated it, and the dog could not make a single sound out of the deep fear which had being instilled in it by other dogs about the wickedness of man.This boys father is the same person individual lost his new born to dog mauling,the wife committed suicide as a result and through his influence and charisma he was able to influence the people of the town to do away with all dogs. However, there is a natural inherent in all men for dogs, this love which has being lost in history was regenerated in this little boy and he started to stroke the dog on the head,under its chin,this dog had never felt anything like this before,and instantly he fell in love with the boy.When the dog regained its health,the dog started to make some noise which began to cause suspicion of the presence of a dog in that town. Meanwhile, the young boys mom just gave birth to a new baby girl, and the young boys father was the same man who lost wife to suicide as a result of the mauling of his child by a dog.

Upon sensing the presence of the dog,he called in the institution in charge of killing dogs, and a dog hunt was started,when the young boy discovered what was happening, he took the dog and ran,he ran to the wasteland where the dogs are known to reside in.He was chased by the men who wanted to kill the dog and he was forced to cross into the the wasteland in order to save the dog, in the process of doing this he fell into a ditch, this ditch happens to be a trap which the dogs had dug to protect themselves and to capture other animals which they use in feeding themselves. The boy lost consciousness and the men turned back when they saw some very fierce dogs coming to guard their territory. The dog stayed with the boy and refused to leave his side all through the night.In the morning the dogs came to check their traps for food,and immediately they got close to their traps, they caught wind of the smell of the boy.The boy was already conscious and was frantically trying to get out of the ditch,but was unable to get out.

Upon discovery of the boy, the dogs made moves to kill him,but the young dog fought them back, he protected the boy with all its might. This dog stood in front of all the other dogs gnarling and vowed that it would be over its dead body for them to kill the boy, meanwhile its a supreme law in the dogs land that no dog no matter how highly place would ever take the life of another dog. So in the end the boy was imprisoned in the dog land and locked in a pit guarded by the fiercest dogs in the land. The little dog found ways to bring the boy food and it narrated to the supreme dog council how the boy saved its life, how it fed him and treated him.The dogs were amazed and decided to interrogate the young boy to find out why he saved the young dog. The dogs had developed a way to speak the language of men as a result of all they had observed over the years, and they decided to learn the language in order to protect themselves better from men.

The boy made them understand that there was a natural love inherent in man for dogs and that was why he saved the dog. The dogs did not believe such love existed as men were always on the look out to kill any one of them found. The boy was by the dogs of how men woke up one day and started shooting all of them including their pups, they said they all had to run away and all those who stubbornly stayed were killed. The boy also narrated his own side of the story of how a dog killed his fathers son and caused his fathers wife to commit suicide hence causing his father to spear head the annihilation of all dogs. The dogs further explained to the boy how the presence of new babies caused men to abandon them, reduce their love for them and treat them differently from how they used to treat them before the babies arrived. The dogs said they did what they did out of fear and out of the stories which stray dogs told them,the strays said they became strays cos of the babies and all dogs feared being strays hence the killing of the babies, meanwhile those strays lied to them as the babies were not the reason for them being strays.

The boy made the dogs realize that they have being lied to and that babies required special attention when they are babies, he made them to realize that even humans were neglected sometimes when there is a baby, he made them to realize that ever since his baby sister had being born he has being somewhat neglected by his parents and it was this neglect that caused him to run into this young dog. The boy proceeded to stroke the dogs and they all felt so good and the natural love they had for man started to come back again and they all loved the boy and all wanted him for themselves. The boy realized this and started to think of a way to untie dogs and again.

Meanwhile the father of the boy blamed the dogs for k********g and killing his son and he made men to hate the dogs even more and they started to mobilize on how to go to the wastelands and wipe out all dogs for good. Meanwhile, there were other creatures which men greatly feared, this creature killed men for food and they were so deadly cos men were unable to see them coming or sense them,this creatures mortal enemies were dogs, cos dogs could sniff them out from miles, dogs could see them and dogs could kill them also. This creatures caught wind of the plans if man and they were very happy cos they wasteland which the dogs occupy is the fastest route for them to get to mans town. And so they sent some of their kind to go and observe what man was doing and how soon man would be able to clear the part for them so they can come and feast on the people of the town. The ones they sent had to go around the wasteland into the town of man and when they got there they were so hungry cos they have not had a decent meal for sometime. About this same time the boy was returning home with the intention to change his dads opinion so that he can in turn change the opinion of man about the dogs. The boy got home and his father was so happy to see him, his father rejoiced and the boy began to narrate what happened but the father refused to accept what the boy said. He made the boy to realize that by morning the next day all the dogs in the wasteland were going to be killed and that nothing can stop it.

Unknown to the boy the young dog followed him home but went to hide itself where the boy him it when he brought him home for treatment. The young dog followed the boy to the border between the wasteland and the town and the boy asked it to go back. When the boy left the young dog caught the smell of this creatures and decided to follow the boy so that it can protect him. The creatures were so hungry and decided to eat the baby girl in the house, when the mother of the boy saw the creatures, it raised an alarm and the father came to rescue them but the creatures over powered them and was about to devour them when the young boy came in, the young boy screamed and the dog sprang from where it was and came to his rescue , the dog fought of about six of this creatures,they injured it but it fought with all its strength and killed all of them. The dog was so badly injured that it could not move, the father of the boy ws amazed and he took the dog to the towns hospital, everyone that saw him were surprised as to why he was bringing a dog to the hospital, he ordered for the best treatment to be given the dog and narrated all that happened. He convinced the town to stop the attack, he followed his son and the dog to the wasteland and took all the dogs back to town. The dogs were sent into different homes. When the remaining creatures did not hear from the ones they sent out, they assumed the men must have killed all the dogs, so they proceeded towards the wasteland and fought it empty, they were so happy and they called out all their fellows to proceed to the town for a feast. When they were getting close to the town, all the dogs caught wind of their scent and told man what was coming, the dogs all assembled and the creatures were coming in their droves, once they entered the town they saw dogs everywhere, but it was too late to turn back, the dogs killed all of them and dragged their bodies to the center of the town,when the people of the town woke up in the morning,they were surprised to see bodies of this creatures littering the whole place and the dogs staanding guard,they all rejoiced and promised to never send the dogs aways anymore. The dogs learned to accomodate babies and even cared for them also and they all lived happily ever after.
