CHAPTER 5

~ CAMILLA ~ We don't clean dirt with dirt. That day, I'd come while riding his fingers. He'd taken off my mask while my senses were clouded with pleasure. Maybe I was too selfish by coming and not allowing him to come too or maybe I couldn't think for myself since I'd followed Mira's suggestion, and opted out at the last minute. How selfish of me. I didn't even get to ask for his name. But well… I'd lost my only chance at healing. Now, the wound is rotting and hot water was still my only best bet. Two months had passed and I still felt his fingers in me sometimes, but today was different. I adjusted my blazer as I stared back at my reflection in the mirror, my skin prickling with nervousness. This was the only way I know. The contract is essential to solidify the foundation of my new business even if Albert Cargill is the manager of the firm. He's the manager not the owner. Mira had said. She's right. Her words are the only thing keeping me grounded right now. I settled for a red lipstick. I don't know but there's something about red lipsticks that gives me confidence. Like that night. I sighed, inspecting myself in the mirror. Royal blue blazers and pants, white shirt, red lipstick, minimal jewellery. Perfect? I don't think the same though. I sighed for the upteenth time as I picked my purse and new car key, courtesy of Mira and me. What would I do without that girl? I slipped into the car and drove to the famous Steel corp, hoping upon all hope that I get the contract to solidify my new jewellery business. Please, fate. Just this once. Nothing has ever been in my favour. As soon as I entered the parking lot, I checked Mira's text. “Seems like luck is on your side today booboo. Your request was granted swiftly. My partner said someone had referred you. I heard the new CEO’s mood is always good in the morning so you should be able to bag the contract. Best of good luck **kiss emoji**” I didn't realise I was holding my breath until I finished reading the text. With my boosted confidence, I dipped my phone into my purse and grabbed it with my brown file jacket. I locked my car and dipped the key into my pocket before proceeding to the entrance. “Please take that elevator.” The receptionist at the main entrance said, pointing to an elevator. I gave her a polite smile before walking towards it, my heart beating in my chest as I entered the elevator which took me directly to the second to the last floor where the meeting was to be held. The sound of my heartbeat echoed loudly, matching the whooshing sound of elevator as it carried me up. As soon as the elevator's door slid open, my breath caught in my throat. Albert was standing before me, both hands in his pocket, a smug smile on his face. “Nice to see you, Cammy. I've been expecting you.” I clenched my fist, my heart throbbing painfully, mocking me. I thought I was healed. But I didn't let my emotions slip, beaming as I stepped over the threshold of the elevator. “Not nice to see you again.” “Well, it's understandable. But this isn't how you were supposed to thank me though.” I maintained my smile, sparing my wristwatch a glance. “I have a meeting with the C.E.O, Mr Cargill.” I gritted out. “I guess you are here to lead me to him, can you kindly lead the way?” “Sure sure.” He said with a sneer as he walked down the hallway. I fell a few feet behind him. He slowed down, matching my steps. “Don't you wonder why you were the first to be called?” He asked in a whisper. I titled my head up, smiling as if we were discussing the weather. “There's nothing to wonder about.” “Well, I was the one that recommended you to be here early. Aren't you supposed to thank me?” He asked suggestively. I spared the CCTV camera a glance as we rounded a corridor where only the double doors are visible down the hallway. “If only your brain was like your stomach that whistles when it's empty.” I said through my teeth, shooting him a disgusted glare. I watch his face go red in anger, satisfaction coursing through me as I sped up, leaving him behind. As soon as I reached the door, I turned to him with a smile. “Shall we?” He chuckled darkly as he placed his hand on the knob. “I only wanted to get a tight p***y as a reward since even with your V card, you couldn't keep a man but you just crossed the line, Camilla.” Fuck up. I chewed the insides of my mouth as he turned the knob, stepping inside. I followed him. The room was empty. He continued to walk forward until he was sitting to the right of the seat at the centre. “Since I'd recommended you, you don't need a majority vote to check your qualifications. Kindly sit as we await my boss.” He said mockingly. Fear coursed through my veins as I moved to sit opposite him. As soon as I settled on the seat which felt like pricking needles, I wiped my clammy palm against my pants in nervousness. I don't need to be told that I'd already ruined this for myself with the way I'd spoken to Albert. Some minutes later, the double doors swung open. My jaw dropped as my gaze landed on him. The guy from the bar. “I…” I tried to say but my throat felt dry. I watched in horror as Albert stood up from his seat and gave the man a slight bow. “Good morning boss.” He nodded at him before his eyes landed on me and I swear I saw his lips twitch as he walked forward. He whisked past me before sitting on the chair at the centre, interlocking his fingers on the table, his eyes still fixed on me. “Is this the woman you'd recommended?” He asked. My eyes darted between both men. I can't breathe. “Yes boss. This is my ex-wife, the one I told you that cheated a few days into our honeymoon.”
