The threshure's house Cain's pov As I was walking down the stairs my heart kept beating so loudly, I thought that it was going to burst out of my chest. My legs kept shaking. That wasn't good. I really needed to calm down before going down, I thought to myself, as I was walking. Before entering through the door, I took a deep breath and calmed my nerves. As I was walking, David stopped me and ensured by saying, "Cain! Be confident and don't forget to smile, I believe in you bud!". "David, for godsake I'm not going for an interview, you're just making me more nervous" I said, getting more anxious. He just smiled at me, "hey!!!! You know I'm bad with words, right? Cut me some slack!" He said, in an exaggerated tone. "Yeah....you're right, you ARE quite weak in this department", I exclaimed, teasingly. He just laughed and, in a gentle way, patted my head to calm me down. I smiled in gratitude. "Now, go, before your father losses his temper" he said, to which I hurried through the hall. My heartbeat was so rapid as I was opening the door, for a few seconds, I took a deep breath and opened the door... Third person's pov As the boy opened the door, he was immediately met with a strong scent of pheromones and just by being in it's presence he was determined that it was his father's. He felt a cold shiver down his spine and he looked down as if the floor was the most exciting thing he saw, he didn't even dare to move his eyeballs even an inch. The atmosphere in the room was so tense and the air felt so thick that it could even be pierced if it was cut with a dull knife. Cain felt suffocated. In the midst of all this tension, a really deep and grave voice was heard saying "atleast have the decency to raise your head!" In such a strict tone that Cain trembled, immediately raised his head and straightened his already arched back, but what he saw made him even more terrified. His father was sitting crossed-legged in an intimidating manner and right across him was his oldest brother, Ustain threshure.... Cain never really looked at his oldest brother for more than a few minutes or, as he never actually dared to raise his head in front of him, he never got to actually picture his face completely and as he looked at his brother, the first and utmost thing he thought was, dangerous. Indeed, his brother was dangerous and ridiculously strong. He still remembers the time he got beat up when he was discovered outside the main gate by his father and Ustain. Cain suddenly looked away from his brother as he got reminded of that and he took a deep breath as slowly as possible not to draw so much attention and moved his light blue eyeballs towards his mother. He suddenly recognized her playing the piano ever so gracefully. Cain's pov I knew it, as I looked at her, she still looked so stunning and graceful. Her beautiful long blond hair that gently stroked my face when I was little, as she patted my head in my sleep, those long and slender fingers with long yet shaped nails that brushed through my hair in a motherly manner. Looking at her, no one would be able to guess that she's a mother of three. She still looked at least twenty. As I was lost in my own thoughts, suddenly mother looked at me with a worried and signalling expression. I was caught off guard and looked away. She looked at me? I'm pretty sure she was signalling something. Was she trying to tell me.... something? She seemed troubled. I thought all at once. For a split second, I forgot my situation. Unfortunately, my father suddenly spoke in a firm voice, " as you are pretty much aware that you're turning 18 in two weeks or so". "Y-yes father" I said, trying to keep my voice steady but pretty much failing. He sighed probably at my demeanor and continued, " since you are a CURSED breed and wouldn't be able to live without your alpha's presence," he said in a disregarding tone, "I'm doing you this favour and holding a little ceremony for your turning of age, BUT you are NOT going to stray from any of the rules that maid Anna will tell you and if you do remember this, this time your going to live in that basement for the rest of your life.....or if you even make it. DO.YOU.UNDERSTAND" he growled, emphasizing every word to which I flinched and immediately said " I understand." In a whispering voice to not offend him in any way possible. As I maintained eye contact with father, from my peripheral vision, I saw mother holding my father's hand to calm him down....perhaps for my sake. WHAT? What was I even thinking for my sake? She probably did it out of habit or something. How could I even think like that, having such hope... I could feel my mother's eyes on me but didn't have the courage to look at her again. I just looked at my father as he said " I don't want you in my presence anymore. Go now and this is the last warning I'm giving you. DO NOT embarrass me at the event and behave strictly as maid Anna tells you to". " Yes I won't father a-and....thankyou for doing this for me", I said, scared, but I was really grateful I had to say that. He just looked away for a few seconds and I could be hallucinating, but if I dare think, I saw his expression getting a little softer. "Go on, now" he told me in a not-so tough voice, and I immediately walked out the room, not forgetting to bow my head in gratitude. As I was walking in the hall, I thought whether father wasn't that bad now or is he doing this because he knows now I won't be in this house after 17 days? But why would he even care, not like I made my presence that noticeable. Mother and Ustain wouldn't bother either, they didn't even care to speak a word with me like I was genuinely not there. Clearing my head, I went to see Miss Anna and David.... . . .
