CHAPTER 7Kira stared at her apartment. It was much as she had left it last night before going to bed. The pizza boxes were still on the coffee table; the newspapers were still on the couch. The piles of sysadmin books were still next to the computer magazines. Her computer’s screen saver — various pictures of the mountains and extreme sports — was still cycling. Only the dead Chinese food had changed, and was stinking up the apartment even more. Kira shivered and closed her eyes. What had happened was weird — too weird.
