Chapter - 13

Olivia’s POV I was sweating, fear gripping my legs ands making harder to walk. The house was eerily quiet, too quiet. “I think we’re should go and call cops or something!” I whispered. “Shhh.” She hissed, pointing the gun forward, ready to shoot. The house was trashed, furniture broken and smashed glass all on the floor. Things were scattered on the floor. “This is not good. We should go back.” I stammered. She just kept walking further into the house until we reached kitchen. I was absolutely not prepared for what I saw next. A hand was sticking out of the corner from behind kitchen counter on the floor. Angelina walked towards it and when I saw a f*****g dead body, my stomach contents came to my throat. The stench of blood was very heavy in air, almost unbeatable. “Mrs.M no!” Angelina cried, falling next to dead old lady, her gun on the floor. Her clothes stained red as she lifted the dead woman’s head up, sobbing. My feet were stuck and so were my eyes to the blood soaked dead person. I forgot to breathe, to blink and to move. I couldn’t register the crying Angelina. Loud set of footsteps into the house pulled me out of the trance and terror filled me once again. “S-someone’s coming.” I mumbled but even I couldn’t hear it. “A-angelina, someone’s coming.” I cried, tears rolling down my face. My mind was telling me to move, to do something but my feet were stuck. The footsteps grew closer and I almost peed myself. Crying out I ran to the gun and pointed it to the floor just as someone came barging in loudly. Without a single thought, I fired the gun blindly. Six consecutive gunshots rang into the house and then everything went silent. My eyes were closed shut and the gun shaking in my hands. I could hear my loud sobs and my heart in my chest. The loud sound of the gunshots brought a deep ringing in my ears that won’t stop. I peeled my eyes open to see a man on the floor, eyes open and blood pooling around him. “Wha….” I trailed. I mean I did fire a gun but there’s no way I actually killed someone. My mind went into shock and everything else blurred out. I could only stare at the lifeless body slumped on the entrance of the room. It felt like the person will get up any time and Charge at me like a zombie. “…have to go.” Someone screamed. Someone started shaking me violently screaming something in my ears. I looked at Angelina in trance; confused and paralysed with fear. Then she started to drag me up on my feet. “We have to go. Is not safe here anymore.” “No no no. I don’t have anything to do with whatever the f**k is going on here. Leave me out.” I said and ran out the kitchen all the way out of the door to the elevator and repeatedly pressed the call button. I just committed a f*****g niece and there’s no way I was going to be caught with it. Angelina was officially a suspicious person and I wasn’t about to be dragged into her mess. The elevator door opened, my way to escape but for some reason my feet won’t walk into it. My stupid spying had put me in this situation and as much as I didn’t want to, I was worried about Angelina. She was all alone in there and also in danger. Against my best judgment, I turned around and hurried back into the apartment, into the kitchen. Angelina was still in the same spot, crying and trying to call someone on her phone. Judging by her struggle I don’t think the call went through because in next moment, her phone was thrown on the wall in anger. “Just leave. You don’t want to be caught in this mess.” He hissed at me, her eyes red and puffy. The girl who always looked like a goddess now looked like a total mess. Her clothes were drenched with blood and hair too. “We have to leave. You can’t stay here either. Let’s just pack and leave please.” I pleaded. “Where are we even going to go?!” She sobbed. “Anywhere but here. I don’t want to leave you behind like this. If you end up dead after I leave then I’ll have another murder on my conscience.” “I don’t have anyone in this city I can go to looking like this.” “Let’s go back to my apartment. You can shower there. I don’t feel safe here right now. Please.” She nodded and got up, wiping her eyes with bank of her hands, in process smearing blood on her face too. She walked to her once ridiculously luxurious room, now thrashed and damaged. Mindlessly I started to walk being her as we went into her room. Angelina started to pack her bag, stuffing her belongings in a suitcase. Meanwhile I could only stand in the doorway, shaking and crying. In next five minutes we were hurrying out of her apartment but not before covering the body of the lady in the kitchen with a bed sheet and pick her cracked phone, thankfully it was still working. I didn’t ask any questions as we rode down the elevator. Angelina was still trying to call someone. She wore a Hoodie and sunglasses, and thankfully, she had wiped the blood off her face too, so it was not visible. We quickly got back into my car and started to drive towards my apartment. “I just committed a f*****g murder, can you please tell me what the hell is going on?!“ “I’m sorry, unfortunately, I cannot tell you anything and to be honest. I don’t even know who that man was and how he got into my apartment.“ I almost screamed in frustration. I just killed someone forgot sake, and I was not even eating answers about who I killed. I knew if I have a conversation with her anymore. I was going to lose my s**t, so I thought it was better to keep quiet till we get to my house. We pulled up into my parking and hurried upstairs. Thankfully Lindsey was not home. “Keep your bag in my room and take a shower, you are covered in blood from head to toe.“ I plopped down on my bed rewinding everything that led to this moment. I never thought that I would have to commit a murder while solving the murder mystery of my parents. A massive headache hit me along with dizziness. I wasn’t built for all this. I couldn’t tolerate so much blood all at once. That stench of blood was going to haunt me till the day I died.
