Olivia’s POV "Hey there sweetheart." Her soft motherly voice spoke. "How are you?" "Hey. I'm doing good. How are you guys?" "We are fine honey, living the peaceful lifestyle that we always wanted." She said, sound strangely bitter. "Everything okay? You sound strange." I said. "Uh yeah. Just lost in past. Enough about that, when are you coming to meet us?" "I'm actually planning to visit this weekend. I have switched shifts with one of my coworkers. She needed a day off a bit early so I pitched in. I get the weekend for week off now." "That would be wonderful. You can stay the night too. It's been so long since you visited, we feel lonely without our little girl you know!" I teared up. "I'll visit on weekend I promise. I miss you guys too; it's been months since I ate your delicious food." "I'll cook up a feast. The peaceful life is boring sometimes; too much relaxation puts me in bad mood. Your uncle on other hand is loving it." "Speaking of him, how's he? I haven't talked to him for a week." "Oh he's fine. Lounging around like a damn pig all day. He's going to look like one soon if he keeps eating and sleeping all day." "Well, the profits are treating him good. You should feel lucky you don’t have to deal with people every day, it gets you know." "Don't tell him that. I don't want to hear him brag about his laziness." She sighed. I laughed. "You guys are adorable." "Alright I'll hang up now. I have to feed dinner to bingo. I'll see you in few days and you take care. I better not see you skinnier when you get here or else I'm not going to allow you to go back." She said sternly. "If anything, I have gotten chubby. You will see. Say hello to uncle from me." "Will do. You take care now. Can't wait to see you. Bye sweetie." "Bye." I smiled and hung up. I had my meal while watching a random movie on Netflix. It was close to eleven by the time I was done with dishes and cleaning. Since I rarely got free time I decided to go for a walk. Even if it was late the city was pretty crowded with people even at this hour. And I lived in downtown area so it was never quiet. I put on a t-shirt and plugged in my earphones. Locking the door, I went downstairs. It wasn't as crowded as daytime but it was still pleasant. The cool breeze whizzed past me making me perk up and reducing my headache even more. The restaurants were closing and people were walking by, some enjoying a simple walk like me while others going home with bags and tired looks on their faces. As I went further, I saw crowd in a particular shop and I smiled; craving ice cream. I got myself a double scoop of chocolate and cotton candy and enjoyed it to my way home. Life was pretty busy but normal and I was at peace. The week went by pretty quickly and soon it was Friday night. All my friends showed up to my place unannounced like always with bottles of liquor and junk food. My apartment was our spot and we loved to party at my place and hang out. My roommate was pretty chill about it too and sometimes joined in when she could. "So what's plan for the weekend?" Emily asked while munching on a French fry. "I'm going to crash at my cousin's place. He just got a new game for PlayStation." Seth answered. "I'm going to take it slow with alcohol and go camping with my folks." Phil said. "That sounds cool can I join in?" Mila perked up. "Sure. My mom would love to have a chatty partner." She gave him a thumbs up. Rest of the group was going to stay in dorm and chill. "What are you doing?" Paige asked. "I'm going to visit my aunt tomorrow. I got two days off so I'll be coming home on Sunday night. It's been long since I went back home." "Alright. A weekend without getting hammered sounds cool." Aaron joked. The night passed by joking and laughing. I didn't drink much as I had to drive early tomorrow. Everyone left around 2am. I woke up early the next day and packed my things which weren't much. I left around seven a.m. it was a four-hour drive from my apartment. I grabbed a coffee and a sandwich on the way. As the city disappeared, the beautiful countryside along with my travel playlist made my mood serene. The sun slowly rose up illuminating the sky. I didn't mind driving alone as driving gave me peace and comfort. There was something special about road trips and endless roads. I reached my aunt’s house at about eleven thirty in the morning. As I pulled up into the driveway, a sense of excitement and nostalgia came over me. Even if this wasn't the house I grew up in, it was still very welcoming since my aunt's touch was everywhere from the neatly planted flower, trees, to the cute garden accessories. I pulled out my bag from the trunk and headed to the door. I had gotten my aunt a new set of hair-clips since she always somehow seems to lose her every claw clip and two summer dresses. I got my uncle a bottle of nice whiskey. "Oh honey you are home!" My aunt smiled widely and pulled me in a warm motherly hug. "Hey you! I missed you so much." I said almost tearing up. Even if she wasn't my real mother she never made me feel like I wasn't loved or an orphan. She always treated me like her own and always got me everything and fulfilled my every wish. I could feel her shoulders shaking slightly. My aunt was a bit more emotional than everyone else and we shared a very special bond. "Now now, I don't want to see your crying face. I'm here to make you smile and not cry." I said pulling away. "It's just......I am getting to see you after so many days." She sniffled. "Are you going to invite her in or make her stand on the threshold all weekend?"
