Chapter - 19

Olivia’s PoV The door opened loudly and Angelina’s brother walked in, even more angrier than before. He locked the door from inside and I got back further into the sofa. The room suddenly looked at a lot smaller and stuffy. The dominating presence he carried was bigger than this warehouse. “I don’t like people staring at me.” He commented walking to his desk. “What are you doing to do with me?” He lifted his face from his paperwork, evil playing in his eyes. “You are a liability Ms. Martin. I’ll most probably shoot you and discard your body. We don’t babysit hostages.” He said casually as if I was an expired commodity. My eyes widened, limbs going numb from fear. There was no way I was going to die in this place. His eyes travelled from my face to my tattered body, stopping at my heaving chest. I saw his jaw clench as he looked up. “Does Angelina know I’m here?” I mumbled. He nodded. “In fact she was the one who asked me to bring you here. You are a loose end that can get my sister in trouble and I can’t have that.” The betrayal cut deep. “Look, you don’t have to kill me. Just let me go, I’ll never utter a word to anyone.” I tried to reason. “I’m not stupid woman. You think I got here by letting people like you live?” “You are an asshole. And your sister is a lying, backstabbing b***h!” I snarled. In block of an eye, he was on top of me, gun on my forehead. “Choose your next words very carefully Olivia. You have already ruined my day. “Your sister ruined my life. What do you have to say about that? I have no f*****g idea why I’m even here!” His gun pressed harder. From inside, I was breaking in fear but I couldn’t show it. I scoffed. “I deserve to know the name of the man who killed me, don’t i?” “Valentino Romano.” The way his name rolled off his lips had me breathing out. I could only look at his lips, forgetting he was literally going to kill me any moment. “Valentino Romano.” I whispered. His eyes darkened. I was feeling abnormally hot, my head feeling light. His lips were locked and eyes narrowed at me with an unknown expression. None of us were bothered about the gun on my temple, but locked in a weird stare down. I was afraid of I looked away, I’ll lose. He lowered his gun and stepped back, his jaw clenching. “Get out of my sight before I do actually kill you.” He growled. I sat back, relieved. He was my chance. My chance to get deeper into my parents’ past. I knew if I stuck around him I’ll find something but this man was hellbent on killing me. Sitting back into his desk, he phoned someone as he looked at me. I had a doubt that he was talking about me and my suspicion was proved right when my man-handlers from before came in. “I hope you enjoy your stay.” Valentino said as I was dragged away yet again. I screamed and kicked as I was taken away to my doom. Once again I was stuffed in a car and driven somewhere with a mask on. They took me to what looked like an abandoned concrete building literally in middle of nowhere. All my attempts to run away were futile as I was hauled in by two hulk like men. The structure from inside was just like outside; abandoned and falling apart. Trash and things were all scattered on the floor and walls were full of graffiti. We walked further until we reached a solid metal door. One of the men kicked the door open and pushed me inside. The door was slammed shut from outside and locked. The loud noise echoed through the whole building. I looked around, tears falling down my face. There was just an old metal bed with a thin, worn out and torn mattress and a table; nothing else. A window secured with iron rods provided the light source and air. The walls of the room were just concrete slabs, no paint with cracks running through them. There was no electricity in the room meaning when it gets dark I’ll be left without light. There was no water or any other thing in the room. “You have got to be f*****g shitting me!” I mumbled looking at the poor excuse of a room. Even prisoners got better accommodation and facilities than me, there was nothing as the room was set up to torture the person trapped in it. I heard a sound of car starting. Immediately I jumped on the bed and tried to peak through the bars. The men who brought me here were leaving. “HEY NO WAIT! YOU CAN’T LEAVE ME HERE ALONE!” I yelled on top of my lungs. I knew they heard me but they ignored it and left anyways. No I was alone in the whole building, no one to listen to me or come to my help. The chilling thought of being alone in the night in this awful place had me shivering in terror. I jumped down from the bed and sat on the floor, my hands hugging my knees. Not a sound was to be heard around me and scenarios of me getting murdered in this room plagued my mind. My entire body was in pain, I felt dirty and exhausted. I was hungry and thirsty. I asked for water many times but no one responded as there was no one in the building with me. Things went from bad to worse when the night arrived. The temperature around me fell and some cold air started to blow in, reducing the temperature into the room more than I could handle. My wounds couldn’t take it as it dropped even lower and soon, I started to shake like a leaf.
