Theo got up early for our breakfast. He insisted on doing so, after a ‘tireless night’. I have yet to enjoy it but Mom called me.
“Come home, quick.” Mom said, short and sharp. And then, she ended the call without waiting for me to say anything.
No good morning or hello.
‘Why would I expect that of her, anyway?’
Upon realizing how her voice sounded–firm and authoritative, I could tell something bad was coming my way.
“What is it?” Theo inquired after seeing my reaction. He was almost done cooking a heavy breakfast for us.
I forced a smile on him. My excitement about breakfast was totally ruined.
“Mom summoned me to the mansion.” I said shortly.
