Alpha Elijah.
I am Elijah Darksworth, the most feared Alpha in New Orleans city. And today, I will prove the assertion as to why I’m feared.
“Our pack is not intimidating because of our large multitude in numbers.” Rather, we are feared because we are the last surviving pack of our Hybrid bloodline.
I took responsibility of the Darksworth pack at a very young age. At the beginning, it was rough—no one wanted to accept a young kid as Alpha.
In their eyes, I was unworthy and they couldn’t respect or feel the aura that showed them I was the chosen one. So, many alphas from different backgrounds found their way to my pack and asked for a duel.
“It is known in werewolf traditional that only the most powerful could emerge as Alpha.” However, to their dismay…I inherited the undiluted bloodline of the Lowenmensch werewolf specie.
I am half werewolf-half lion. I lead the Darksworth pack, which is last surviving hybrid pack in the city. However, no one had such undiluted bloodline and abilities like mine. I guess I could say I that was the last of my kind.
I used only one man has an example to show the pack my worthiness. And ever since then, no one has tried to test me.
Soon, the Pack elders arranged a marriage because I failed to choose a luna that would rule beside me. My wolf and lion did not care about s****l attraction or mate desires. It focused only on leading the pack which is my sole responsibility.
Hence, an arrangement was made. There was something about my lifestyle that couldn’t submit to having a mate. As a powerful werewolf, it made no sense that someone could be my weakness.
I hated the idea.
And I made it clear to Elena, the girl whom the pack elders thought would be a good match for me. Fortunately, she listened, and we became close friends who understood each other.
“The moment I heard she was attacked and killed by an Alpha of a worthless pack…I simply couldn’t control myself.” We did not share a romantic relationship but I loved her, the news of her death hit me to the core.
Bitterly, I invaded the Swiss pack to give the same fate to Elena’s murderer. However, we lost him but his mate is in our custody. I grit my teeth as I walk towards the room where we have her locked up.
She is constantly hitting the door. Yelling, screaming and calling for help at the top of her voice.
I handle the door roughly and she steps back immediately. I find her holding a chair which she is about to use to destroy the doorknob.
I can her heart thump in fear.
I understand why. I’m not the most calm looking man. I am the opposite of everything she knows. It is written all over.
“Who…who are you?” She stammers and I walk closer.
She raises the furniture at my face, using it to protect herself.
“Get away from me!” She yells, her hand shaking.
I step forward despite her threat, grabbing the chair and thrashing to the floor. She places a hand to cover her ears, watching the chair that I’ve turned back into pieces of furniture.
“Where is Everest?” I ask, looking at my fingers in a manner that would cause her to wonder what I plan to do with them.
She looks up me but there is not a reply to my answer.
Very swiftly, I yank her with her dress and push her to the wall violently. She coughs, holding my hands that squeezes her cloth and I begin to lift her from the floor.
“Where is he?” I ask, in a whisper.
“Please, I don’t know…he ran.” She says and I continue to raise her towards the wall.
“Well, I didn’t think you would talk easily.” I say, letting go of her and she falls right on top of me. In that swift moment, my heart skips a beat when her vanilla scented body falls on my hard chest.
Captivated by that for a minute.
I push her away, choosing to ignore that feeling that snapped when our body emerged. She falls to the ground and I dust my hands.
“Cole!” I say, referring to my beta who is standing outside the door and he steps into the room.
“Take her to the public where everyone can see her.” I say.
“What…what do you want from me? I promise…I’m telling the truth.” She says, her face is flushed from my interrogation and Cole picks her up despite her fighting attempts.
I follow behind as she is taken to her public. With a loud voice, I answer her question.
“Well, you are his mate. And if he’s hiding somewhere, we have to use you to fetch him out.”
“No! He won’t come!” She screams back.
“Well, then…you will suffer for hiding him.” I say.
At the public place, the pack members are gathered. They are currently mourning Elena who was killed by Everest, the Alpha of Swiss pack. At this stage, they are angry and they want revenge.
Surrounded by the intimidating pack members, she is placed at the center of the space where everyone can see her. I sit at the far front staring right at her as the pack members murmur.
“Go ahead!” I signify to Olivia, an omega who was Elena’s friend.
Olivia walks towards her.
“What is her name again?” I ask my beta, Cole.
“I think it’s Lilith Stark.”
“According to the information I got, Everest is supposed to get married to Lilith tomorrow and make her is luna.”
“I heard that they are lovers and her parents even helped him become Alpha.” Cole replies as he stands by my side.
Therefore, if Everest loves her so much, he would come out of hiding to protect her.
There is vengeance in Olivia’s eyes as she rips the first fabric of Lilith’s dress. This interrogation is meant to publicly disgrace her and if Everest was really her mate, he would come out of his hiding place to save her.
“Tell us where he is or you will pay for it!”Olivia yells at her.
“I swear by the moon goddess! I don’t know!” Lilith responds and I cross my legs watching the scene unfold.
“He killed our future Luna! In cold blood!”Olivia screams to the public, and the pack members howl and growl in large volumes.
She rips Lilith’s dress once again.
“If you are really his mate, he will come here to protect your honor. And until then, this humiliation will not stop.” Olivia informs her.
As I watch, there is a tugging in my heart that I cannot explain. It is like a pull that forces me to save Lilith. Is there something wrong with me?
Why would I feel the need to protect the mate of a murderer?
“Please! Please!” Lilith cries and my heart feels the sorrow in her voice. I uncross my legs uncomfortable. I’m not one who sympathizes with emotions but listening to her voice is forcing my heart to appeal.
At a point, I feel like I cannot watch again.
“Alpha, I don’t think she knows.” Cole says.
“He is her mate. She would do anything to protect him.” I reply, knowing fully well it may not be the case.
Olivia looks at my side, asking for signal to continue the next stage of the interrogation. I nod my head, inhaling deeply as I stare at Lilith.
At the moment, our eyes gazes at one another and the look in her eyes hits the core of a part of me that I didn’t know existed.
“Stop!” I yell, standing from my seat.
“Let her go.” I say.
“Alpha, are you sure?” Olivia ask.
“Dammit, I’m sure!” I reply, and I grab a cloth from nearby. I walk towards Lilith who is obviously scared of me, flinching as I draw nearer.
I untie her hands and cover her with the towel. She takes it, scooting away to avoid being close to me.
“This isn’t over.” Everest took the life of my mate and because I don’t believe you when say you don’t know where he is.
“You will take the place of my mate and fulfill every command that I ask of you, Lilith Stark.” I say, harshly.
“Alpha, she is from the Swiss pack, you can’t make her your…” Olivia goes.
“I can’t?” I ask, turning towards Olivia and steps back.
I turn back to Lilith. My plan is to humiliate her until she confesses to where Everest is.
“Today, I have saved your nudity from being broadcasted to the entirety of my pack.” But how would you save it from me?
“Take her, wash her up and bring her to my room.” I say, walking away before I can see her reaction.
