Aleron paced back and forth on his balcony, his eyes shifting only between the door and the palace gates. Dawn was breaking, yet he’d barely blinked. Ever since sneaking the unconscious girl into his apartment last night, he couldn’t help but feel like even the darkness had eyes and that those unholy pairs have been watching him till now. A hissing sound snapped him back to reality, and he noticed Phil waving at him from the door. “She’s awake,” he whispered, causing Aleron’s eyes to light up instantly. “Get her some soup.” Aleron replied, making way past him into the room. In the middle of the bed sat the girl in her hospital gown. Phil had given her a comb for her hair, but she couldn’t seem to stand the scent of her stench.
