I woke alone the next morning, instantly missing Marsh’s warmth. After dressing in a shirt borrowed from Tabitha and my jeans, I made my way toward the kitchen. Marsh and Tabitha sat at the table, their heads close together as they spoke in heated whispers. Tabitha and I both jumped as Marsh slammed his hand on the table. “Enough!” he hissed at her, shoving his chair back and pacing toward the window. As someone who appeared so cool and collected on the surface, it was easy to miss the storm that brewed inside of him. I cleared my throat and stepped forward. “Good morning,” Tabitha offered me a wan smile as she rose from the table and stepped into the kitchen. “Mornin’ lass,” she replied. “Will ya be wantin’ some coffee?” “I would love some, thank you.” I glanced between her and Mars
