NINETEEN Hurt Like an ever-present shadow, part of her mind lodged itself in the beast’s own, observing its fight with The Blade Lord, content to be an eager spectator as the creature spilled Marcus’ blood across the moor. Marcus gripped his bastard sword in his right hand, holding his shield with his left. The Blade Lord stood alone, resolutely, in the Meldbeast’s line of charge, his stance unyielding and with his unflinching gaze fixed firmly on his attacker. Marcus’ staunch disposition came as no surprise to her – she expected nothing less – but failed to even register with her former mount.
