“ Emelia, why are you crying?” The sudden voice surprises me. I shiver before I turn my head and see Cody stare at me doubtfully. I wipe my tears hurriedly before his thumbs gently crosses my face to wipe my tears instead of me. “ Do not be so rude. Your face is tender.” “Not as rude as what you did to it. You slapped me all the time before.” I do not say it out because I am drawn in the gentleness in Cody’s eyes.
“ Emelia, are you crying because it is too painful?” I shake my head and lean my face against his palm. “ I am just a little homesick.
