The silence filling the car became unbearable, with her being this close to me, she had to know that my body was reacting to her smell. The fresh saltwater scent lingered on her hours after surfacing. I understood she was still mad over me pushing her from the house, but for her to tell me that she couldn’t wait to get this over with to get rid of me, my heart nearly exploded within my chest.
“I know your mad at me.” I stated, not taking my eyes off the road, we had a long drive ahead of us to the airport in Suva. Dr. Valenhien had dug up some information on a strange creature surfacing off the coast of Maine, in the USA. There was no doubt in my mind it was Edgar, though the only thought I had kept replaying was why he hadn’t come after me when he surfaced.
