Lucia arrived at Mr. Smith's apartment building slightly early, her heart thumping in her chest. As she entered the building and made her way to the designated apartment number, she took a deep breath to steady herself. "I pray he doesn't recognize me as it would spell doom for this mission". She prayed. The opulence and grandeur of the house overwhelmed her. "So this magnificent mansion belongs to Smith? What a beautiful place. But I am not here for this admiration. My mission is too important to be jeopardized now." Lucia thought aloud. Her heart pounded in her chest. She couldn't shake the fear that Mr. Smith might recognize her and discover her true intentions. Knocking on the grand entrance door, Angel's heart raced in anticipation. Moments later, the door opened, revealing a slightly older but undoubtedly familiar face standing before her. "Good morning sir. I was invited for an interview today at this address". She greeted Mr. Smith. "Please, have a seat, Ms...?" Mr. Smith gestured for her to sit. "Lucia, sir. My name is Lucia," she answered, taking a seat. Lucia anxiously studied Mr. Smith's face for any sign of recognition. His eyes, sharp and perceptive, seemed to scan her for a moment before settling on her résumé. She held her breath, waiting for the inevitable moment when he would realize who she was. "Tell me, Lucia, why do you think you would be suited for this position?" Lucia took a deep breath and began to speak, "I have always had the passion to take care of homes. I have managed a restaurant and a poultry farm so I believe my experience would help me succeed in this job". She answered from her heart, hoping that Mr. Smith would see her potential. "Can you handle the demands of a housemaid?" Mr. Smith continued with the questions.. Angel, looking composed despite her trepidation, replied politely, "I have always had a passion for taking care of households, and I'm confident in my ability to fulfill any duties required of me, sir." Mr. Smith's eyes narrowed, seemingly displeased by her calmness. "Do you have any experience in dealing with difficult people?" He fired on. Angel hesitated, contemplating how to answer truthfully without revealing her personal connection to him. "Yes, sir. I have encountered challenging situations in the past, and I believe that my patience and perseverance enabled me to handle them effectively." With that response, Mr. Smith fixed a gaze on her again, for a few seconds. Her heart skipped. "He definitely recognizes me". She thought. "But it had been seven years since he last saw me. Since that day he rejected me and chose Emily over me, he has not set his eyes on me". Lucial said to herself. She raced her mind to the countless hardships she had suffered after they parted ways. "The sufferings had significantly changed my appearance. My once innocent face is now hardened, There is no way Smith could recognize me now", Lucia assured herself. Mr. Smith's eyes squinted suspiciously, but Lucia maintained her composure and continued to respond flawlessly. As the interview progressed, Angel's anxiety slowly settled. Mr. Smith showed no sign of recognition throughout the session. Suddenly, the sound of a baby's cry pierced the air. Mr. Smith looked apologetically at Lucia. "Please excuse me" he begged and quickly disappeared into the adjacent room. Angel could faintly hear him cooing and shushing in the next room before he emerged again, this time with a little boy on his shoulder. The child couldn't have been more than two years old, and from the way he nuzzled into Mr. Smith's neck, it was clear that they shared a special bond. The child had a brightly colored plaster on his right arm, immediately drawing Angel's attention. "Sorry about that". Mr. Smith said, as he returned to his seat. Concern etched itself onto Lucia's face as she looked at the little boy. Unable to contain her worry, she asked, "Mr. Smith, is this your son? What happened to his arm?" Mr. Smith nodded solemnly. "Yes, Lucia, he is my son. He had a terrible fall and broke his arm," he replied, his voice tinged with regret. A rush of memories flooded Angel's mind as she recalled the times she had healed fractures using her hidden powers. "What about his mom?" Lucia asked, curiously itching to hear news about Emily, the lady Smith had chosen over her. "His mom and I divorced few months ago. I was given the custody of him because of my ex-wife's irresponsible lifestyle. He is the major reason I seek a female house keeper so I could run my business without distractions". Mr. Smith replied. "Oh, I see. I'm really sorry to hear about his accident. Have you taken him to see any doctors?" Suppressing her emotions, Angel forced a smile., Mr. Smith's face fell as he replied, "Yes, I've visited various recognized orthopedic hospitals, but they haven't been able to fully heal his arm." "This kind of case is best handled by traditional bone healers, who have some supernatural powers", Lucia suggested. "You are right Lucia. I remember someone who had some sort of hidden powers to treat bone issues. But I've lost contact with het", Mr. Smith said, his voice wavering. Angel knew exactly what Mr. Smith was referring to - she had treated his fractured finger before they had separated. The realization hit her that he was talking about her, yet he couldn't recognize her presence. A rush of memories flooded Lucia's mind as she recalled the times she had healed fractures using her hidden powers. She felt a deep pity for the little boy, knowing she had the power to help him, but also aware that attending to him in front of Mr. Smith would give away her secret. "Keeping my true identity hidden is essential for now. I am here for a job interview, not to demonstrate my healing abilities" she thought to herself. Lucia's heart ached as she witnessed Smith's despair. She wanted more than anything to reveal herself and assure him that she could help his son. However, she knew the consequences would be severe. Taking a deep breath, she replied, "I'm sorry to hear that, Mr. Smith. I hope you find the right solution for your son's arm soon." Her words felt heavy on her tongue, but she knew it was the safest course of action. "I have to stay focused on my goal - getting the job, punishing him for the pains he caused me and keeping my extraordinary abilities under wraps", she resolved. She stole another quick glance at little Martin. "If I succeed in securing the job, I will find a way to help this little boy" Lucia decided. Deep down, however, she couldn't help but wonder if Mr. Smith would ever piece the puzzle together and recognize her true identity. As the interview drew to a close, Mr Smith leaned back in his chair, a smug smirk playing on his lips. Suppressing her inner feelings of disgust, Lucia summoned a polite smile, playing her part flawlessly. "I must admit, I had my reservations about hiring you as a housekeeper, but there's something about you, Lucia. You seem determined and trustworthy. You've got the job. However, remember I have a zero tolerance for incompetence, and I demand utter respect within these premises" "Thank you sir, for this opportunity and I promise not to disappoint you". Lucial said, in appreciation. "I hope you have no barriers towards resuming tomorrow morning? You will live here and be entitled to two days off weekly". Mr. Smith said. "I will resume tomorrow morning sir. Thank you once again for this great offer". She replied. She couldn't help but feel a mix of relief and disappointment. Relief that her identity remained hidden and disappointment that she now has to face the challenges of working under a man who rejected her for her past mistake, causing her so much pain. "The mission has just began. I would complete this mission and unveil my true identity to Smith at the right time. Nothing would deter me now from making him have a pay for my shame, sufferings and pains". Lucia resolved within her. As she left Mr. Smith's mansion, she couldn't help but feel a renewed sense of hope for the future. "Life is in turns. Smith has had his. Maybe this is my turn to punish him", Lucia said, already feeling victorious.
