Chapter 22

2609 Words
Olivia's POV I was breathless, Charles rested his forehead against mine. I felt like I was drunk, utterly consumed and devoured by him. I tried to steady my breathing, I looked up and my eyes met the sparkling blue of his and my breath hitched. I watched as Charles slowly closed his eyes and took a deep breath. I was terrified to take my eyes off him and terrified to speak, whatever was happening, whatever this was, I didn't want it to shatter and bring me back to reality. My thoughts swam in my head, his kiss felt incredible to me. The slightest touch from him caused a heat like I'd never known to ignite in me and I wanted him, I wanted all of him, unlike like I'd ever wanted anyone before. "I'd give up forever for you" Charles whispered through shallow breaths. I had no chance to think about what that meant, my arms wrapped around his neck and pulled his mouth down onto me. My kiss was fevered and hungry. I pressed my body to his causing him to envelop me in his arms. Charles broke the kiss this time leaving me dizzy, his warm lips moved to my neck and I let out a soft moan. How did he make me feel that incredible? His hips moved towards mine and there was no mistaking how hard he felt, I'd felt it whilst I'd been wrapped around his hips, but now I could feel the full length pressed up against me. "Charles" I gasped as he kissed the dip at the corner of my collarbone. My fingers from one hand dug into his shoulder. I could feel him smile against my skin and it felt as though my heart had stopped as I felt one of his hands rest on my stomach, tips of his fingers on the bare skin under my t-shirt. "Stay, spend the night with me" he murmured as he lapped at the same spot that had made his name gasp from my lips. And just like that, the spell was broken. I felt my body become rigid. Charles stopped and I felt him tense as he stood to look at me, confusion at my reaction was evident on his face. I could feel the rage build up inside of me. How had I been this stupid? I'd let him suck me in again! "Is that what this is about? Am I part of some stupid game between you and Noah, to see who can f*ck me first!" I sneered. Hurt and alarm flashed in his eyes. "No! I swear to you! I didn't mean to sound like I wanted to sleep with you, I mean I do but not like that, I just don't want this to end tonight, I just want to hold you next to me. We wouldn't have to do anything, not even kiss if you didn't want to. I just want to be with you." I laughed. "I'm so stupid, I can't believe I've fallen for this act again!" I was agitated now. "F*ck!" I shouted and brought my hands to my face. "Liv, please, I know I don't deserve to ask anything of you, but please let me talk and listen to me. This has nothing to do with Noah, this is me, and it's not a game, I'm not playing with you." "Oh god, Noah! I've cheated on Noah!" I cried out. Any colour drained from Charles's face and I knew at that moment that this hadn't been a game, at least not one that had involved Noah, he looked as distraught as I felt at the realisation of what had occurred. "Come inside so we can talk, it's cold outside and I think we need to talk." I shook my head, I couldn't go inside with him. What had happened tonight shouldn't have happened again, my head told me it couldn't happen again but just at the thought of Charles pressing against me, his lips on mine, my body began to betray me. "I need to go," I said in a voice barely audible. Charles took my hand gently, using the other to tip my chin up so I was looking into his eyes. "Please let's talk, even in the car, we can't leave it like this" his eyes were pleading with me. "I can't tonight, I need to think and I can't think like this, I need distance from you, you're…." I stopped, not daring to finish that sentence. I heard him sigh. "Can we meet tomorrow?" "Ok," I conceded. Charles took a step forward and placed a kiss on my forehead, I swear I could feel him inhale deeply as he did so. "I'll call you in the morning, I've got your number," he said, sadness in his voice. I turned and quickly jumped into the car. I focused on recalling his words earlier on how to start and drive the car. I didn't dare look out of the window. I could feel him still standing at the side of the car. Finally, I was able to start the car and drove off. The pull to look into my mirror to see if he was still standing there was strong but I wouldn't allow myself that. I didn't trust myself. I carried on the drive home in a daze. The downstairs lights were on when I arrived home, David must have left them on for me. I glanced at the time. s**t, I was 2 am, I should have been home over 90 minutes ago. I crept into the house as quietly as I could, turning off the lights as I did so, I turned into the kitchen to find Sophie standing there filling a glass of water. She raised her eyebrows at me. "You're home late," she said, a slight smile on her face, "Don't worry, dad's in bed, he doesn't know" "Soph…" I started but the words didn't want to come out, instead, I broke into full sobs." In an instant, Sophie wrapped her arms around me and I fell into harder sobs against my best friend's chest. I felt like such a fool. "Here you need this more than I do," Sophie said, handing me the glass of water. "Let's go up to your room, I don't want dad to come down. Let me just go tell Owen." "No, don't do that, I'm fine, go back to Owen, I didn't mean to interrupt your night" I pleaded, guilt washing over me, I was a crap friend in addition to a crap cheating girlfriend. "As if Owen’s getting any action tonight with my dad next door" she laughed l, "Besides, you're my best friend, you come first. I'll be back in a minute, I'll meet you in your room." I nodded and followed her upstairs silently. I quickly changed into some pyjamas, I caught the scent of Charles on the t-shirt as I lifted it above my head, I brought it to my face and inhaled deeply, closing my eyes, memories of earlier flooded into my mind, his lips, his touch, his hardness, I shook my head as though to try to banish those images to somewhere else and continued to get dressed. Sophie reappeared a few minutes later and took a seat next to me on the bed. I pulled my knees up to my chest and hugged them into me. "Ok tell me everything, what's happened." I began from what I could recall, the little comments from Charles, to Richmond Park right up to what happened tonight. I felt like I was missing a massive piece of the puzzle that was just out of my grasp. Sophie sat for a moment saying nothing, she pulled me into a hug and squeezed tight. I realised how much I needed that and squeezed her back. "I wish you had told me this sooner. Honestly, I thought from that first day you saw them that you were into Charlie, then you suddenly didn't seem bothered but were dating Noah and I couldn't understand it but didn't want to push. Do you like Noah?" I puffed out a breath. "I do, but I don't think I like him enough to date him. My body does funny things whenever I see Charles even when he's being an arse but I don't have the same reaction to Noah. He's hot and a nice guy but I guess I just don't feel it the same. I don't have a lot of experience in that department so I wasn't sure, especially as he seems to like me." She nodded. "It's OK to be confused. Are you going to tell Noah about kissing Charlie?" "I think I have to, don't I? I don't want to hurt him and I don't want to come between him and Charles, I know if you did something like that to me I'd be devastated and betrayed." "This is going to sound controversial but I don't think you should tell him. Hear me out, I'm with you on how I'd feel too. But it's a kiss or two, I don't think it's worth you damaging their friendship over it. You said Charlie wanted to talk tomorrow, or today I guess, so take his lead maybe?" "I need to break up with him Soph, I can't keep seeing him after this, not just because of the kiss but because I've realised it's not fair when I don't feel like that about him" "I'm not saying don't break up with him. I'm just saying let Charlie be the one to decide if Noah should know about the kiss or not. But erm I have to tell you something, and I don't think you're going to like it." "Ugh, I have a feeling I won't." "I didn't get a chance to do it earlier as you were so busy and I thought Noah might have told you, actually I kind of assumed he would tell you as he was excited." "Please just spit it out Soph" I pleaded, I didn't like the sound of where this was going. "It's Owen’s birthday next weekend, and Charlie has let us use his holiday cabin a few hours away, we had arranged it so that all of us could go away together for the weekend, including you and Noah and um Charlie." I groaned. Yeah, I didn't like it. She was correct. "s**t, how am I supposed to break up with him and then go on with that?" I asked exasperated. "You don't need to come, Owen will understand." "I can't ruin Owen’s birthday weekend." This was a disaster, it wouldn't matter what I did, I'd upset someone. If I break up with Noah, one of us wouldn't be going on that weekend, he was Owen’s friend and well I was Sophie's friend and I'd become friends with Owen. This wasn't fair on Owen. "What about if you just don't do it until we come back?" I was surprised by that suggestion but it sort of didn't horrify me, it was one more week, I could keep my distance, and end it when we came back, that way I wouldn't ruin the weekend for anyone else. "I'm too confused right now to think about it anymore. I need some sleep, I'm on the dinner shift tomorrow" I groaned. Sophie pulled me in for a hug again. "It will all work out, Liv I promise, I'll let you get some sleep." I nodded and watched her leave. Maybe David had been right, I should forget all the notions of boys and concentrate on myself, I thought as I switched the light out and climbed into bed. My eyes were heavy and wanted to close as soon as they touched the pillow. "Don't overthink it" the thick velvet voice enveloped me in the dark. "Charles" I moaned as I felt a hand slip under my top, snaking towards my bare breasts. I gasp, the contact of his skin on mine was so stark, I was immediately covered in the familiar jolt of electricity. It was all-consuming and I couldn't think, I couldn't breathe. I held my breath waiting for the next impact of contact. It didn't take long, hot breath on my neck, a flick of a tongue warm and wet against my neck. I let out a moan which was stifled by his mouth on mine. His fingers found my n****e, swiping his thumb over it gently. My body responded to it, my n****e becoming hard instantly and my back arched up to meet his hand begging for more. A hand slid into the top of my shorts and I gasped once again. It didn't take long for him to move down pausing as he could feel how wet I was already. I could feel myself blushing, I was more than ready for him but I didn't want him to know that. He growled against my mouth and I felt his hand move through the wetness finding my entrance, one finger gently massaging, exploring before going in further. My breath hitched, I tried to throw my head back but his mouth pounced once more holding me in place. I could feel his finger working in and out of me, my hips bucking against it trying to get more friction. His thumb circled my sensitive spot, sending me wild. All embarrassment was now gone, my hips moved faster urging him to follow my pace which he obliged, I could feel my release building up until I couldn't hold it anymore. "Charles!" His name spilled out of my mouth as wave after wave washed over me, it felt like bliss. I could feel and hear a vibration somewhere. My mind couldn't make sense of it, where was it coming from? I opened my eyes groggily to see sunlight filling the room. Confusion swept over me and then it hit me. Charles hadn't been here, I'd been dreaming but not only that, my hand was still between my legs. I'd touched myself imagining Charles doing it and giving myself the best orgasm of my life. The vibration didn't stop until I realised it was my phone on the bedside table. "Hello" I breathed, still flustered from my dream and the resulting orgasm. "Liv?" The Irish voice floated through the phone and I blushed. "Are you ok? You sound out of breath" I rolled my eyes. Why did it have to be him calling and why did he have to notice? I wanted the ground to swallow me up whole. "I'm fine, I've just woken up." "Oh sorry, I should have realised you would still be asleep, it was a late night." I nodded and then realised he couldn't see me. "It's OK, I'm up now" I replied, sounding cooler than I'd intended. "Would you meet me for coffee maybe? I'll buy you brunch. I'd like to talk." The child in me wanted to tell him to get stuffed but the adult in me knew I could put this off but the conversation needed to happen at some point. I had to know what he was planning on telling Noah. I sighed. "Ok, where and when?" "The boathouse at Richmond Park? In an hour? I know you won't have time to eat, I'll buy you brunch, I know you have work later." "This isn't a date!" I felt the need to protest. "I know, it's just a chat." He sighed and sounded deflated. "Ok, see you in an hour" I replied curtly before hanging up the phone and pulling my covers over my head.
