Olivia's POV
On the drive to the bar, Sophie pointed out various places from shops to hairdressers and pharmacies. I'd been pleasantly surprised that the town was bigger than I had expected. It was also so well looked after with baskets and planters of flowers everywhere and all of the grass looked like it belonged to a golf course.
Finally, we pulled up outside O'Malley's. I'd expected a typical Irish bar and I wasn't disappointed. The name was a wooden sign with letters painted green. Inside it was pretty basic. I followed Sophie to the bar whilst looking around. The bar was almost full. I'd expected that I would stand out like a sore thumb being new and that everyone would stare, but they weren't. Sophie saw me looking around and ushered two seats at a table close to the bar.
"We get a lot of new people here. People passing through from other towns. It's a bit of a weird place like that and seems to attract a lot of young people. So don't worry, you won't stand out, we're used to it."
"Can you read my mind?" I laughed.
"No, but I can read what was written all over your face." Sophie laughed, just then a waitress came over. She was tall with almost coal-black hair and a really pretty face. She was wearing a white t-shirt with O'Malley's printed on it and a pair of jeans, with a black apron around her waist.
"What can I get you?" She asked with a smile plastered on her face.
Sophie briefly frowned, then a smile was forced onto her face.
"Carmella, this is my friend Olivia, she's going to be staying with me for a while. Olivia, this is Carmella. She was a couple of years above me in school."
"Hi, nice to meet you," I replied, as I quickly scanned the menu.
Carmella raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything, she tapped her pen against her white notepad impatiently.
"I'll have a diet coke and hmm the cheeseburger with onion rings," Sophie said, smacking her lips together.
"Could I have a diet coke too and umm the cajun chicken pasta?"
"Sure, anything else I can get you?"
"Sophie said that you might have been looking for staff?" I swallowed hard. I wasn't usually this forward but I could sort of reinvent myself here.
Once again she raised an eyebrow.
"We do, bar staff, are you looking for a job? It's a weekday, late nights and weekends, soooo......it may not"
"That works for me," I said, cutting her off.
"Fair enough, do you have any experience in bar work?"
"No, but I'm a fast learner and a hard worker."
She smiled at me and I hoped that was a good sign. She was difficult to read. I heard Sophie suck in a breath like she was poised to say something.
"Write down your name and number and we'll call you in to do a shift and take it from there"
I could feel the smile spread across my face as I wrote my details down and handed them back, then felt a cold shiver run down my back and felt the urge to turn around, like I could feel someone looking at me.
Instinctively, I turned around to find a table with two guys sitting at it. Both were looking at me intensively. And holy crap they were all hot, like boy band model hot. Both of them looked tall even though they were sitting. I knew they would dwarf my 5ft 3 frame. One had intense-looking blue eyes and sandy brown hair which flopped down over his forehead slightly. The other had chestnut brown eyes and hair that almost perfectly matched in colour, his hair was swept to the side and back. Both of their skin looked perfect, a pale peach that was flawless and almost made them look as though they had been carved out of some sort of stone. Or come right out of the swimwear magazine. I realised I was staring and they had noticed. I could feel my cheeks burn pink and saw the one with the sandy brown hair smirk as the other said something to him.
I turned around quickly, stumbling in my seat, embarrassment setting in deep. Oh god, I was going to have to leave this place and never return because of embarrassment.
"You OK?" Sophie asked, looking amused.
"Don't look but who is the boy band sitting behind us?"
Of course, she immediately looked and then chuckled.
"That's Noah Townsend and Charlie Thomas, they do look a bit boyband-like don't they?"
"They're hot, but intense looking and, god, they look like they would devour me"
"That's because they would," Sophie laughed. "They're older, like 22 or 23 or something, Noah is from London or somewhere in England and I think Charlie is from Dublin, who knows. Anyway, they moved here a few years ago, and both have super rich parents or something. They're rich and run their own companies, they like super hot girls and seem to have a different one each weekend, they've worked their way around a lot of the girls in town, not me I might add. They're kind of big deals around here. I don't really know them. Dad has never seemed keen on them, so I've always avoided them, but they're on the town council too, the youngest ever members I think. But yeah, they are hot, Charlie is the one with lighter hair and Noah has darker hair, they look similar but aren't related apparently. "
I turned to sneak a peek again and made eye contact with mousy brown hair. He appeared to scowl slightly and then cast his gaze downwards. As I turned to look back at Sophie, my gaze met chestnut brown hair or Noah, as Sophie had called him, he smiled a wide toothy grin and in my shock, I spun back around.
"Oh my god I need to work on my impulse control" I mumbled to Sophie, who laughed.
I felt flushed and fought the urge to turn around again. Every fibre in my body was willing me to turn around, hell it was even willing me to go talk to them both, not even preferring one over the other. It was both of them. What the hell, this wasn't like me. I didn't approach boys, I didn't really think about boys and they certainly didn't think about me. I wasn't ugly, I was average, and I would blend into a crowd and not stand out. My face and body were unremarkable, I didn't attract any sort of attention, so why the hell did I feel like I wanted to go talk to them?
Just when I was trying to reason it through in my head, the urge was gone. That was weird.
"You can stop blushing now, they're gone", Sophie teased.
"Gone?" I did turn around and she was right, they were gone, bloody hell that was even weirder than I realised. Shivers ran down my spine but any thoughts were gone as I could smell the food that Carmella was bringing towards us and felt my stomach growl. Noah and Charlie could wait until later.
