Episode 2: A Not-So-Expected Visit

648 Words
"How's school sweetie pie?" Mom asked as soon as we enter the front door. "As usual." I replied. "Productive?" Mom asked again. "Uhmm, maybe? I don't know." I said and hastily went to my room. I need to rest. As soon as I enter my room, I shut the door quickly. I heard Mom murmuring something but I don't hear it clearly. I barely need some time alone. I changed with my usual home attire, a pajama and an oversized shirt. I combed my hair and tied it in a ponytail. I quickly opened my window and tied the curtain to the side. Oh it's nice to be home. I will never be bored with this scenery, green grasses, tall trees, refreshing air, quiet environment and distant from everyone—except my Mom. Our house is a bit far from neighbors and I think it's a good thing. After my Dad died, I literally want to be alone and distant to everyone. I shut all the people out of my life, except my Mom who happens to be the only person I have right now. I walked towards the bed and lie down there like it's the best feeling in the world. I stayed in that way, imagining things and staring at the ceiling when suddenly I heard sounds from outside. Outside my window. I quickly got up and went to see what's outside. I look through the window but there's no one in there. Wait, did I just literally said 'no one'? Meaning I am expecting that there is someone hiding there? I said earlier that we are far from neighborhood so it is impossible that there's someone out there. I went back to my bed and sit there for like 10 seconds before I heard the same sound again. Like there's someone throwing something into my window. Who or what is this annoying thing? I'm pissed. I grabbed something in my bag and went to the window again. I swear I'll kill this annoying thing. I look again through the window but I see no one. Ugh, am I just imagining things? "Sweetie, it's time to eat. Dinner is served." Mom shouted. "Okay, Mom. Be right there." I said before taking a quick glance at the window. I'm really imagining things. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ "Sweetheart, I have a bad news and a good news to share with you." Mom said in between dinner. "Yeah, I want the good one first." I said before taking a sip to my apple juice. " The good one is, I'm hired sweetie!" Mom said and smiled very very wide. I can see the smile in her eyes too. " Okay, congrats Mom." I said. "Is that all what you want to say sweetie? Are you not happy?" Mom said with a quick change of mood. "Of course, I'm happy Mom." I said and faked a smile. Mom applied in the distant neighborhood as an assistant supervisor in a restaurant. I'm really happy for her but I can't express it in my face. "So, what is the bad news Mom?" I asked. "Okay. So, the bad news is that I can't make you dinner. Just to inform you sweetie, my shift is from 9:00 in the morning and will be over at 9:00 in the evening and yeah, that's the bad news." Mom said. "Seriously Mom? I thought it's a bad bad bad news. You know what I mean?" I'm out for words. "It's still a bad news honey." Mom said. "That's not a bad news. I can cook dinner on my own Mom. I'm twenty, not a kid anymore." I said before taking a big gulp on my apple juice. I almost choked, too bad. I went to my bedroom after dinner and quickly slammed the door. I turned around and got frozen on my place. Asshole as ever! What is he doing here?
