Episode 6: A Not-So-Happy Night

939 Words
We entered through the back door and we successfully reached upstairs. Their house is very nice. The paintings in the wall were very classic and beautiful. I want to stay in a place like this. John walked to the door. I followed him. There is an awkward silence. No one wants to speak first when finally... "What are we doing in here?" John only smiled. He made his way to the bed. "Aren't you going to answer? You brought me here and left me standing here?" "Yeah right. You can sit beside me." He said. "Are you making fun of me? 'Coz this whole thing isn't funny anymore!" I burst in anger. "I'm not making fun of you. I just want to spend a little time with you. I think you're already aware that I like you." What did he say? He likes me? "So, you brought the girls whom you like here in your room? And lied about the stupid date? You're a manwhore!" I angrily said. "I did not say we will have a date. You just assumed." He said. Ouch! "But you made me wear a semi-formal attire." "I just wanted to see you dressed up for me." He said and smiled. "Great, you fooled me." I'm upset. Not with the date but with this whole thing. "Here, sit beside me. I'll get you something to eat downstairs." He said. Right! I haven't had dinner yet. After a few minutes, John is back with a tray. Hmmmmm.....the aroma is so good. So tempting! He placed the tray in the table near the bed. "Come, let's eat." He said before handing me the plate filled with mouth-watering food—a ketchup fried rice, bacon-wrapped hotdogs, and tacos. Great, this is the only right thing I had for tonight. We ate silently and far from each other. I ate at the bedside while he is on the table. He is quite a gentleman. Annoying, but I think if I will know him more, he might be a nice guy. We could be friends. I just think... He turned around and caught me staring at him. He smiled. "What's wrong? Don't say you want to eat me, too." He said. I blushed. Asshole! I just can't help myself from smiling. "What are you smiling about? One minute serious, the next like you heard a dirty joke." He said. "That was a dirty joke." I insist. "You think?" He asked teasingly. "Y-yes." I answered. "It wasn't a dirty joke." He said. "Your mind is just dirty." Whaaatttt?? Now, I'm the one whose dirty-minded? It's clearly a dirty joke. He's just so in denial. He get my empty plate and went downstairs. When he get back, he is bringing one glass of water. "Do you drink water?" He asked. Why is he asking me stupid questions? "Yes, of course." I answered. He handed me the glass of water and I drank it. I gave him the empty glass and he placed it on the table and sat beside me. "Do you like water?" He asked. "Yes. Why are you asking me stupid questions?" "I'm asking you seriously." He said, a little bit irritated. "I already said yes. I like water." I responded. "Great." He said. " Why great?" "Coz you already like 72% of me."He said smiling widely. What does that mean? "Huh? I don't understand." I said, clueless of what he said earlier. "Ugh really? I thought that was a nice pick up line. You're so slow. Forget about it." He said, disappointed. "Then tell me what does that mean. 'Coz I literally don't understand." I said. "Just forget about it." He said. He seems disappointed. :( "I'm sorry." I apologized. He looked at me. "It's fine." He smiled. I smiled back. "I was thinking about you and how much I enjoy having you here like this." He stared at me. His stare is so intense, I can't bear it. I looked to other direction. "My life is a mess." I suddenly confessed. "Why would you say that?" "It's true. I haven't been truly alive and happy in years. Except when I'm with—nevermind." I said. We are not friends. Why am I opening such topics like this? "Except when you're with?" He repeated. "Nevermind." I said. "You know what? You deserve happiness. Maybe more than most." He said. I didn't know he has a soft side. Those comforting words were so good to hear. "Ever since I laid my eyes on you, I believe you are different. Believe me, you got me like crazy." He said and laughed. Why are we talking like this? Why are we so comfortable like this? I don't know how to respond and react. "You are so pretty." He said. "Stop calling me pretty, have you seen me without makeup?" I said. "You just put a light makeup in school and I can still see your true beauty not hidden in those makeups. You have a beautiful pair of eyes,... so expressive eyes." He said staring at me again. I want to melt. "You and I aren't friends. We shouldn't be talking like this." I said. I didn't want to open up much on him. I barely knew him. "Well, we can be friends. Hi, I'm John Rave Stewart, and you are?" He said and offered me his right hand. He made me smile again. Why is he like this? I'm not used to this. "Hi, I'm Celestia Vega." I smiled. "Now, we are friends." He said. We both laughed. I love this side of him, not the annoying one.
