Against the Boundaries

Bella I wanted what he wanted, because all it reminded me of was the first night we met. The first night he was with me. My heart fluttered as he ran his fingers on my skin as it sent bolting goosebumps all over my body. “Alex…” I paused, catching my breath, “You have to stop.” It didn't sound like I was irritated because the look in his eyes made me want it even more. It was subtle because I couldn't forget the first night we spent together. “I can't,” he replied, pouring the alcohol stench on my face. It was the first time seeing him in his drunk state—he behaved totally differently. The harsh side of him disappeared. My heart was pounding, but I knew by myself I had to make the right decision, no matter how rough it was going to be on me. I didn't want him to get pissed off. “You are drunk,” I uttered, pulling him to myself to get him on the bed. I ended my fantasy so quickly too. I remembered I was pregnant and the father of my unborn child had no idea about its existence. “You don't know what you're saying, woman!” He staggered, and I pulled him to the bed. The soap had dried up on my skin, making me feel tacky. I pulled off his shoes and tucked him into sleep. “I really don't have any idea about what my life will become. I don't know how to make things right for myself now, but I'll always consider you as the savior I never expected. The stolen savior…” I uttered, staring at him as he mouthed in his drunken state. I didn't know what to expect anymore. I promised myself to take each hurdle I was going to face in this marriage a step at a time. I returned to finish up in the bathroom before going to sleep. The next morning, I could feel a weird shadow hovering over me. “Move away, I want to sleep,” I uttered in my sleepy state. “At least you would have considered sleeping on the bed, rather than going to bed on the couch,” Alexander replied coldly. I jumped up immediately from my sleep. “A-Alex?” I stammered, “You're awake?” I picked up the duvet from the ground and I immediately covered myself. “Did you try killing me yesterday after I returned drunk?” He furrowed his brows, with his two hands on his waist. . “Oh, c’mon,” I chuckled. “I am asking because I expected you to still be asleep. You were in a bad state yesterday,” I added. I couldn't even look him in the face. He had no idea what he was trying to do last night. If he did, I was very sure he wouldn't be standing to confront me the way he was. “That's in the past. You need to freshen up if you like and come for breakfast. I just had to wake you up to let you know the contract is on the reading table,” he uttered and pointed to the direction of the reading table. “Ohh…” I uttered curiously, looking in the direction of the reading table. “I will check it.” “If you like…” he replied and walked away. I slammed my two palms on my face because I had always dreamed of being woken up with a kiss on my forehead, but I was woken up with a shadow and a lot of attitude. I freshened up and when I got out fully prepared, I let out a heavy sigh as I saw the sealed envelope which had the contract. Suddenly, my phone rang and without paying attention to who could have called, I ignorantly answered my phone. “I have been at your house, and it is sealed. Where the hell are you, bestie?” It was Valerie. Immediately, my heart fell into my stomach. I grasped my phone tightly as I could feel the coldness at the tip of my fingers. “I'm not home,” I uttered, the fear in my voice was vivid. It was very clear that I wasn't ready to face her. She called me bestie? This meant there was a greater chance that she wouldn't find out about what happened. “I'm coming to you right now,” I uttered, and picked up my bag and ran out to the door. When I pulled the door open, I realized I was still wearing the rock of a ring in my hand. I had to run back to the table and I placed the ring on the contract envelope and left the room. I went into one of the cars, “I need you to drop me at a spot where I can get a taxi really quick.” I reminded the driver because that was the exact same thing I said when I called him to drive me out. “Mr. Blackwood made me responsible for anywhere you want to go, and I don't want to lose my job,” he replied fearfully. It felt like I was pushing him to commit a sin by asking him to drop me off the roadside to get a taxi. “Actually, it's not that bad. I just need to get something. I am your boss as well, too. I will be fine,” I uttered, and the car jerked as we reached a taxi spot. I immediately jolted out of the car, “Thank you!” I was lucky to find a waiting taxi in a few minutes and I hopped in to go back to my father's house. While I was inside the taxi, I remembered that Alexander was dressed in a suit and that he woke me to read the contract. I remembered that I tried on a wedding dress the previous night. “Ahh! F*ck!” I gasped. “ It's my wedding today!” I uttered out loud. “Congratulations ma'am,” the taxi driver cheerfully congratulated. I didn't even think about it, and I was going to see Valerie? I didn't know the best route to take. I had no idea if I was going to see Valerie to at least apologize before she found out the truth, or me having to jolt back to the mansion to prepare for my wedding. The ride to the house from the mansion is about thirty minutes or more. Bestie… That name kept ringing in my head because she rarely called me it. She called me on her good days. I was then motivated to keep going rather than to turn back. While the taxi rolled steadily on the road, I was restless about the decision I was making. I was bothered about the hue she was going to feel after she found out about the truth—Her best friend married her ex-fiancé. Scrrrrrrr! Scrrrrr!! The taxi suddenly screeched and jerked after stopping. I immediately found something firm to hold with my eyes closed, “Driver! What the hell is going…” I lifted my head and I found two tinted SUVs that blocked the road, “...on.” I was filled with fear. The worst was about to happen. I was about to be kidn*pped on the day of my wedding. Why didn't I think twice before telling the driver to drop me off the road? What was I thinking? Questions ran through my head and 8 didn't know how to keep up with it. I started to regret it. The SUVs blocked the road in such a way that the taxi driver couldn't move forward or even reverse to ignore the cars at the front. “Alexander!” I muttered and pulled out of the car. “What's going on?” I angrily yelled. I acted that way because I thought he sent people to come and get me. Alex came out of the SUV with so much aura that kept me on my toes. “You left your ring on the table, and you were nowhere to be found. I had to track you…” he softly said, as he moved towards me. “Oh, I was…” I wanted to explain myself on the spot, but I was dazzled at the sight I had. “It's our wedding today, and Bella, I am asking you again to spend your life with me. Will you marry me?” He knelt down and proposed. Without even moving an inch, I felt the crowd gathered with their phones, “Say yes! Yes!” They chorused. I knew I was cooked because it was going to be on the internet. While I stared at him thinking about the fact that I couldn't hide the marriage from my best friend, and I didn't read the contract I signed, and I was pregnant with him, and he had no idea—I had to give an answer. “Yes,” I muttered. Yes, publicly that I was going to be the CEO's wife. “Bella!” I heard my name from the crowd and I turned into the habitation of fear, regret and doubt of who could call me at that point. My hands were heavy with the rock, but my heart was heavier with the fear of the unknown.
