A Plan To Help

Lucas grip on Ava's hands tightened as she spoke, her words with fear, "A Don... Donatello Morano." Hearing this, Lucas eyes trembled. He didn't know why his one and only best friend would bring up a Don's name, especially when they've just met after a long time, "What are you trying to say about Donatello Morano?" He asked, concern clear on his face, as he again added, "You know quite well Donatello Morano is one of the most powerful Mafia boss of all time, he ruled with an upper hand and iron fist in mostly all the cities, that I'm sure about, and you are talking freely about him?." Ava's eyes dropped to these words, she didn't know where to start, how to start explaining things to him, but still, she had to say something, anything, especially when she just brought the topic and her Legs had led her here. So, she gathered all courage in her bones and soul, and said, "The Don, Donatello Morano, he... He is my... I'm married to him—... He is my husband and I need your help." "WHAT?!" Lucas's outburst echoed through the studio, despite Ava's whispered voices. Heads turned, drawn by his shock. Quickly regaining composure, Lucas grasped Ava's hands. "Let's go somewhere safer... We need to talk this out. I know this isn't a prank." Ava jerked her hand free, her gaze drifting away. "...Lucas, this isn't a matter of—" Undeterred, Lucas took back her hand, his grip firm. Together, they swiftly exited the studio, leaving behind a trail of curious and confused onlookers. "Lucas! Lucas! Luca!!!" Ava's desperate cries echoed through the corridor as the young man's grip tightened, propelling her forward. Despite her struggles, Lucas remained resolute, his focus fixed ahead. They reached the elevator, and Ava's pleas grew more urgent. "Lucas, listen! Please!" But he didn't listen, he was annoyed, scared for her sake and this remained in his mind, until the doors slid shut, enveloping them in silence. As they lifted upward, Lucas's head snapped toward Ava, his eyes blazing with intensity. "DONATELLO MORANO?!" The name exploded from his lips, his voice low and menacing. Ava's gaze drifted around the elevator, her voice filled with unease. "...Where is this elevator taking us?" "My office," Lucas replied, his tone firm. Ava's voice trailed off, "... Okay." Lucas's expression turned intense. "You need to tell me everything. Talk fast. I don't understand why you married Donatello. Was there a gun to your head?." Ava's eyes locked onto his, her voice barely above a whisper. "Yes...literally, it was a choice I had to make." "Over what?" Lucas pressed. "Over death," Ava replied, her words hanging in the air like a challenge. Lucas's eyes trembled slightly, and he closed them for a moment, as if collecting himself. "Tell me," Lucas pleaded, his voice low and urgent. "What happened?" Ava took a deep breath, her words tumbling out in a rush. "It's a long story." "Cut it short," Lucas pressed, his eyes locked on hers. With the elevator doors still closed on them, Ava condensed her ordeal into a heart-wrenching summary. She recounted the fateful night, the mugging, and the desperate decision that bound her to Donatello Morano. The elevator halted on the twenty-first floor, the doors sliding open with a soft chime. Lucas's gaze remained fixed on Ava, his expression a mix of shock, anger, and determination. ".... It's all to harsh to process." Ava said with a low voice. "I know," Came his reply. Lucas was one of Ava's best and childhood friend, and also closet confidant. She had gotten him a nickname, as Luca and that fitted and suited him well enough. He was five years older than her, and since his family were wealthy, he had been giving Ava financial support throughout the rainy days, but they all soon broke off, after he had to take over his main business, and soon, slowly, their friendship became long distanced as both were consumed in and with work. Now, Ava had come to meet Lucas because there has been some odd mystery surrounding him about his involvement in the underworld business. And it definitely was true. Lucas grandfather was a gambler and he was among the distribution of few expensive wines to the tables of the mob bosses and from there, he got the money to start a good business, and from there, setting and laying the underground for their lucrative business. His father got as well and that was how Lucas built the entertainment industry, naming it STARLIGHT from his friend with her. Now, it was all shattered after she came speaking about getting married to MORANO DONATELLO. Not getting married, already married to a Man, with a ruthless heart towards her. And this, he wasn't truly happy about, especially when he felt something a special feeling towards her. They both walked away from the elevator, but Ava kept her arms folded. "Luca," she began, "I don't want to stay too long. Someone, a driver who actually agreed to bring me to this entertainment building, is waiting outside. I need to get back to him as soon as possible, so as not to keep him worried." Lucas hearing this nodded. He understood the action and decision she had made, but he needed to find a way to help her as well. If she is to leave now, there is no reassurance when he would set his eyes on her, especially when residing in Donatello mansion. He heaved a sigh, directed his gaze at her, and said, ".... Is there any way you can call me or text or anyhow you can get in touch with me?." Ava sorrowfully shook her head, "None. If I use the Mansion's mainline, there is definitely a way that possessive man would know. The calls are recorded and delivered to him directly through his right-hand man." Lucas understanding look gave her reassurance of his thoughts towards these words as he again asked, "What about the business?." "The business?" She raised a brow. "Yes," he responded, "Is there a way to get in touch with one of his rivals or the other gangster's line? Or possibly another phone or something to get to me, so I can understand your status of life?." Ava facial expression turned surprised, she never thought of this, "... I... I.. I might try." Lucas smiled as she gave herself a courageous boost. He added, ".... that's plan one to the main plan." "The main plan?." "Yes," He replied her, "The plan to extract you from Donatello Morano grip."
