Raine stopped abruptly and turned to the fidgeting Liya.
“You can go back to the room and rest,” she said.
Liya blinked, startled. She tried to hide the fear growing already, “My lady… I can follow you.”
Raine shook her head. “No. You have done enough.”
She glanced at the plate in Liya’s hands. “And that is not for the Grand Prince.”
Liya hesitated, her fingers tightening around the plate. “But my lady…”
“I will handle it,” Raine said softly. “You do not need to come with me.”
Liya lowered her gaze. It was clear she did not want to leave.
“My lady, I do not feel comfortable leaving you alone,” she admitted.
