C13: Life changing Decision
Inner training ground
Raphael stood in the middle of the field coaching other younger warriors as they practiced.
His vision blurred for a second, this was the tenth time his wolf was trying to take control.
The need to mark his mate was becoming too much, hot sweat trickled down his body as he gritted his teeth.
‘mark our mate, claim her…she is ours only’ his wolf growled in his head as he clung onto them.
The warriors noticed his behavior and called Beta Mascot who took him to the office.
Raphael could feel his sanity slip away, his wolf was clawing hard.
“Raphael, you need to mark your mate, the moon goddess has already approved it” Beta Mascot advised his jaw clenched, he didn't want his cousin's son to end up the same way like his father.
“I can't… I can't break Raine's heart, she already has fate in me” He spoke through gritted teeth as he reigned his wolf in after so much effort.
“The truth is known to you, you only pity her.
The three of you will only end up suffering if you make this decision” Beta Mascot half yelled in anger.
“Alice might not survive a broken bond, and Raine?, she would only bear the wrath of her parents and the pack.
Your wolf might not survive it either, do you wish to go feral and still hurt the one you claim to love?” Beta Mascot asked in a low tone.
“The Rapheal I know would pick the right choice, it is all up to you now to choose” he said and left the room.
Raphael sat there for hours, the beta's words running in his mind, unwilling to stop playing.
He clenched and unclenched his fist, he just wanted to protect the little flower who bloomed despite the harshness of the wind.
Yet even the moon goddess was against it?, she won't even pity the young one.
On the other hand, a mate and the bond that came alongside it was what he desperately wanted to experience, a love blessed by the moon goddess.
“Did it have to be like this” he spoke in a low tone, he was torn.
Since his father died he had never felt this devastated.
Two days later, Raphael was summoned to the Alpha's Mansion.
He stood before the building, the place that changed everything, his feet felt heavy as he strides inside, one of the gammas outside led him to the Alpha's study room.
He walked in and bowed his head placing his folded fist on his chest, “Alpha”.
Alpha Elmore simply nodded, signaling him to sit with his hand as he watched him closely.
The once composed warrior, was now haggard, grey eyes were now dull just a few days of not acknowledging his mate.
“Have you made up your mind?” he asked once Raphael sat down.
His question was met with silence, “Don't think if anything happens to Alice I would spare Raine, I might not hurt you considering the fact that you are half Lycan but it doesn't mean so for her” Alpha Elmore hissed in frustration.
The look on his face could tell he meant every word.
Raphael pressed his thin lips, as he stared at the alpha.
His jaw clenched in anger and devastation.
“I would suggest I take you to your mate to see her condition, then you can decide whether to do the right thing or harden your heart” Alpha spoke and stood up heading to the door.
‘mate, mate let's see her’ his wolf spoke in half excitement and half worry.
Raphael joined the alpha who led them to Alice's room, Raphael stepped in and shut the door, Luna Indira was sitting on Alice's bed feeding her some boiled herbs.
Raphael frowned as he took in her weak and pale figure, who could barely part her lips to take a sip.
“Why is she having the symptoms of the mate picking ritual” Raphael asked as confusion marred his face, Luna Indira froze while Alice turned to him weakly.
“What makes you think so, our Alice is not a reckless one” Luna Indira spoke instinctively.
“Whether she did or not it's of no use now, make your decision so that I can make mine” Alpha Elmore caught in his eyes fell on his mate silent but sharp not wanting her to speak impulsively.
Raphael's gaze fell on Alice's frail body, then the thought of Raine going through such from his parents and if.. just if he becomes feral what would become of her.
“Don't keep me waiting, else I would interpret it anyway I want to” Alpha Elmore pressed on with a frown.
“I.. I have made my decision” Raphael said his wolf's pupils dilated in joy.
‘I hope you are accepting our mate,’ his wolf asked warily in his mind, making Raphael roll his eyes internally.
“I will mark her only if you would not hurt Raine again, else I would reject her” He spoke calmly.
Luna Indira glared at Raphael, ready to snap at the moment but Alpha Elmore held her shoulder not too hard but enough to keep her in check.
“We won't lay a hand on her but you are not allowed to be close to her either, it's that a deal?” Alpha Elmore asked, raising a brow.
Raphael shut his eyes for a second before opening them, his grey eyes became distant, “Yes”.
That single answer sealed their new fate and his stance now.
He was no longer Raine's, he was no longer her shield that he so wanted to be, the one that would make her smile.
“Since you have made the right choice we would leave the both of you, you know what to do” Alpha Elmore said plainly.
Luna Indira smiled at her daughter “My baby you would be fine alright?, your mate is here with you now” she whispered softly.
Alice nodded slowly as she smiled, she wished she wasn't weak, a triumph smirk would have been plastered on her face while she flashes it before Raine.
Raphael strode to her, he sat on the bed and lifted her up.
“Just know that I never loved you from the start” Raphael muttered into her ears before parting his lips.
He pierced his elongated canines into the soft part between her neck and shoulder, his bite strong and fierce with no trace of gentleness and warmth.
Alice closed her heart, as she felt the burn in the spot he bit, it was excruciating that if she wasn't weak she would push him away.
From afar one would think that the marking was a beautiful one, with the way his hand circled her waist while the other held her neck.
The door creaked open as a figure walked in seeing them.
