"Zach!"
Alexis approached me while I was on my way to the library. I turned, and I saw her.
"Oh, where are you going?" I asked her.
"You? Where are you going?" she asked me back, and I chuckled. She's so bubbly.
"Library," I said, and she smiled at me.
"I wanna go there too," she said, and we finally got there.
We were reading our own choices of books and sat down right beside the bookshelves.
"Do you accept and respect who I am?" Alexis asked me out of the blue while still looking at the book she was holding.
"Yeah? Yeah," I answered shortly.
"Then, I also do," she said while still gluing her eyes on the book.
"You must really trust me, Alex," I answered, and she looked at me smiling.
"But why are you talking about these things recently?" I suddenly asked.
"Here. I am reading a book entitled Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus," she said.
"And then?" I asked.
"It says here that if men and women can respect and accept their differences, then love has a chance to blossom," she seriously read the passage on the book.
"So, what now?" I asked, for I am confused about what she is telling me right now.
"You accept me as me, and I accept you as you, so I think we also have the chance to experience love together," she answered.
"What? Do you like me?" I asked. It is the only question that matters about what she just told me.
"Isn't it obvious?" she asked back and smiled widely.
I was forced to blink again, and my eyes went wide open when the scene just disappeared, and everything came back. I am still beside Alexis' car, and she's still sleeping. She looks innocent when she sleeps.
I started to think of another place again while my eyes were shut closed, but I was interrupted when I felt an unusual breeze touched my skin.
"Are you ready?"
I almost jump when I heard someone spoke behind me. No! I'm not yet ready. I still have someone to see. I turned around, and I saw that grim reaper or guardian who told me about that twenty-four hours and everything. I responded.
"No. Not yet," I said. There was thick smoke covered him, and he immediately disappeared.
There is still someone whom I wanna see for the last few hours. She's just one among the reasons why I continued moving, no matter how bad life gave me before, and no matter how miserable my life became when I started loving her.
Only the moon knows how I totally fell for her. I told everything to the moon every night before I sleep, all the things that happened between us; between me and Vielka. Mom even scolds me every night, every time she checks me inside my room and finds me staring at the moon at exactly ten o'clock in the evening where it sets perfectly in front of my window.
It's still dark, and the night is present. I could still see how the rain poured down through my soul. I felt how the rain made me comfortable over the past years, but now, the rain just makes me even more miserable. It goes with the emotions I am currently feeling. It's not comfortable anymore. Tears started rushing down again from my eyes.
I closed my eyes again and thought of a new place. I thought of the most familiar place. Everything turned around me, and I am standing right inside the house of the person I loved for so many years.
It's dimmed inside because of the chandelier being lit up with a comfortable level of light. There were various sizes of picture frames. The sofa looks so soft to sit on, but I will see Vielka before I ran out of time.
The ticking clock met my eyes, and I saw its little hand being pointed to eight. I need to hurry and make the best control of Vielka's dream.
I immediately walked to her room. I walked through her door, and I even stumbled when I tried. It was awkward doing the things that a soul does. I went closer to her, and I saw how angelic her face was. She was already sleeping. She is being covered by her thick blanket to get rid of the cold wind from her windows beside her.
I tried caressing her face, even her soft hair, but I failed. I couldn't. It just went through her face.
I just manipulated her dreams. See you, Vielka.
I rang their doorbell as I reached their house. I saw her coming to the gate and opened it for me.
"Hey, come in," she said smiling. We went inside their house, and she let me sat down.
"Why are you here?" she asked when she came into their living room carrying a pitcher of juice.
I watched her filling up the two glasses, and I answered.
"I came here t-to tell you s-something," I said, stuttering. She then put down the pitcher and faced me. She waited until I spoke.
"Vielka, I like you," I said unknowingly, and I started slurping the juice she has given me.
"What?" she asked chuckling. It's insane. Am I going to repeat it again?
"You said you like me?" she asked again, for I wasn't able to answer her.
"Yeah?" I answered. I was shyly looking at her, and she smiled.
"Then I like you too, Zach."
I was shocked upon hearing those words from her.
"What did you just say?" I asked her, still wandering. It can't sink in.
"I said, I like you too," she said in a louder voice. She even looked somewhere to check if there was her grandmother listening. We both smiled and slurped from our juices.
I was forced to blink again, and my eyes went wide open when the scene just disappeared, and everything came back. I am still at Vielka's room, looking at her, still sleeping.
I heard her room clock ticking. As I looked to it, I saw its little hand pointing at ten. I need to hurry.
Without any hesitation, I then manipulated another dream of her.
We were walking towards that enormous tree while our hands were securely locked with each other. Everybody was looking at us, but we didn't mind.
We sat down under the enormous tree.
"What are we doing here?" Vielka asked.
"We need to talk," I answered seriously.
"Why?" she asked.
"What's bothering you?" I immediately asked, and I faced her. She can't even look at my eyes.
"Nothing, why?" she answered shortly while looking away from me.
"Hey, look straight to me, please," I demanded, and I even positioned her face by my hand to look at me.
"What's the matter? You were avoiding me earlier," I asked.
"I saw Max happily talking to you while I was on my way through the room, but I refused to go inside because I saw you happily talking to her too," she said. I laughed upon hearing those words from her.
"Why are you laughing? It's not funny, Zach," she followed upon seeing me chuckling. She's cute when angry.
"You're jealous?" I asked. I even bit my lower lips to get rid of smiling.
"N-no! I am just annoyed. You were so happy talking to her," she said with her voice got louder, but still pleasing to the ears.
I liked it. I liked her. I liked how she gets mad over unimportant things. I just can't help but to giggle. I then held her hands, and I looked seriously to her eyes.
"Trust me, Vielka. I love you," I said, smiling. She only glared at me.
It didn't work, so I hugged her and uttered some words.
"Your reason is valid. Better tell me next time. Okay? I love you," I seriously said, and she responded to my hug.
"I love you too," she responded, and we both kept the hug tight.
I was forced to blink again, and my eyes went wide open when the scene just disappeared, and everything came back. I am still here inside her room, and I noticed her new sleeping position.
If only those things just happened to us, I won't let her go anymore. I wanna let her feel cherished. I wanna let her feel cared, understood, respected. I wanna give her my devotion, my validation, and my reassurance.
I checked her clock again, and I saw its little hand pointing to three. I have many more hours.
Without any hesitation, I then manipulated another dream of her.
"You never miss being that beautiful, Vielka," I said while she was coming towards me, wearing her simple white knee-length dress. She then smiled I guided her inside the car.
I fetched her from their house, and we arrived at the university for the upcoming freshmen ball.
We sat down, talking on our table. We ate and drunk while waiting for our turn to dance.
"Let's dance?" I asked her while I offered my hands. She shrugged and placed her hand above mine.
"Sure."
We danced in the middle of the hall without minding the people around us.
"You look really perfect. You look right. I wanna experience life with you, Vielka," I said as I looked intently to her eyes.
"Me too. I wanna conquer everything with you, Zach," she said smiling sweetly.
We then continued dancing our hearts out.
"I love you."
"I love you too."
Unknowingly, I blinked again, and everything just disappeared. I happily smiled upon remembering all the things I just saw. They were true; they were nostalgic, but I wish I could experience them, one day.
But when?
I just died.
I am dead.
