13 Zahara lands us in the valley. Zeus and Trevor are already there, fiddling with the keys. “You’re too late, brother,” Trevor yells. His nose is crooked and I feel wickedly satisfied that I’ve broken it. “The power is…” He pauses, darting a glance sideways. “Zeus’.” Alaric tries again to throw a fireball but it goes wide and lands in the rising tide. The water is coming over the rim of the canyon again, but not as fast as it was earlier. It’s like the gods want to see how this plays out. Trevor grins and gathers up a ball of water that he throws back. It knocks Alaric on his a*s. Zeus already has all but one of the keys in place, all of them turned in their locks.
