20 The War Council takes a break, promising to reconvene the next day. I realize that I’m exhausted, but when I lay down to take a nap, I can’t fall asleep. It could be because I’m hungry…I haven’t eaten in, like, two days, which isn’t a huge leap for a beauty pageant girl, but usually by now I’d be digesting my own stomach lining, and feeling that pain. Instead, I feel fine, and I’m lying awake in the richly appointed bedroom that Athena gave me, staring at the ceiling when I realize… “Gods,” I say, clapping my hand to my forehead. “I probably don’t have to sleep anymore.
