31 They walked up the flight of stairs and down four doors to their room. Logan looked, and since his tell, a strategically placed thread between the door and the jam, was still intact, he opened the door and ushered Courtney in ahead of him. Flipping the switch on the wall just inside the door had the dim bulb inside the ceiling fan casting a yellow hue over the room. Logan dropped the shopping bag on the floor at the foot of the bed. Courtney turned in the direction of the bathroom and called back over her shoulder, “I’m taking a shower,” as she took the hat off her head and let it drop on one of the two chairs that flanked a small table, then stepped into the bathroom. The door swung mostly closed behind her, but she didn’t latch or lock it. Logan took off his own hat and dropped it
